Just ordered my JCW stage 1 kit

After a year and a half of saving, I was finally able to order my jcw kit for my MCSa. I got the parts and install for a good price with my club discounts. I'm super excited, it gets installed on the 22nd. The wait is killing me.

I just wanted to let everyone know and share the excitement. I'll have pictures up once everything is done.

Did you get the 10% off for DCMM? Then another $400ish for installation? I was able to talk my dealer (Towson) down to $1680 + $380 for the install on an ordered car.

Yup, that's what it came out to be.

What dealership are you getting it done at?

Enjoy your "new" car when you get it installed.

It's being installed at MINI of Sterling. That's where I bought it from. It's getting done in 18 days. I already had a service appointment set up for a routine vehicle check anyway, now they can check it as they install the jcw goodness.

I'm currently in the process of saving up for the JCW Kit as well. I have regular maintenance scheduled in January, and that's my target date for install. I can't imagine having it on order and waiting. I sit around and the idea will pop into my head a couple of times a day, and I get pretty jacked up!!

May you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. It makes a difference, especially on the highway. Much more torque throughout the range.

I put one on my 2009 MCSa and the difference is astounding, esp. like another poster said, on the highway. I know this because my 09 could not get the tuning kit until 6 weeks after I bought it.

Just returned from a 2000 mile road trip from Denver to Vegas via SLC and back and averaged 30 mpg (my calc, car said 32.1) This >bleep BLEEP< part of I-15 in Utah is 80 speed limit), and >BLEEP BLEEP bleep< and some city >BLEEP BLEEP bleeeeeep< and big hills and bleeeep bleep BLEEP and having the A/C on 90% of the >bleeping< time.

(Dont want to be promoting anything "illegal" here)

Needless to say, I'm impressed. My only knock is that sometimes it seems the Aisin tranny has a hard time keeping up with the engine on upshifts--it tends to lag a little, esp going uphill--but that's EZ to modulate by keeping yr foot down on the gas all the time.

Enjoy yr NEW car!!!

Thanks, I am enjoying it. Totally agree on the highway. Top end is much better, much more passing power at higher speeds.

Just went on a 600 mile trip and and can't count how many times my wife had to tell me to slow down, hehe

I have newfound respect for my car's abilities to deliver jaw-dropping performance and sip the petrol at the same time.

(I had a Clubman S manual loaner over the weekend an it was a bummer to drive, compared to my car.)

And QZ there arent that many auto MCS JCWs out there feverishly buzzing America's by-ways. Welcome to our tight little group.

Yeah, I wonder how many auto mini's have the jcw kit? It couldn't be that many. I remember when I found out that the kit was available for the auto I started saving up for it right away.

Done and done, >bleeped< as you recommended. Now, could U go after the MINI owners that post cars with dark tints that are "illegal" and do the buzzkill routine? Sheesh.

my dealer has done a handful of 07s and 08s, I was the first 09, and now someone else (w/a diff color car) just had one installed. so maybe 8-10 max so far? That's not even including the R53 autos that may have a JCW equivalent.

(For R55 and 56 MINI should be able to track this by VIN#s. I'd be curious to see what percentage are autos.)

Don't think the r53 autos ever got their JCW kit here in the US because of emissions. There was a kit available in the UK for the autos but it never passed here. Kinda like how we were sweating for months waiting to see if our kit would get thru emissions testing. We got lucky.

well my original intension were completely changed after a trip to the dealer the other day. Originally I went in to order a Strut Tower Brace. This was to go along with my new 17" konig Hot Swaps and Michelin Pilot Plus A/S tires. After talking to the SA I realized that I would be better off keeping my 16's [yes, I know thye don't look as nice!] and would get more bang for the buck [and better ride qulity] and put the money down on a JCW kit. so that is what I am doing. I go in for a brake service sometime in October so I will do it then.

Now, for those of you who upgraded after you had your R56 for a while, do you feel the $2000+ was worth the extra? I don't track or autocross and do mainly highway everyday. I also don't have LSD, how bad will the added Torque Steer be.

Thanks for your comments

JCW stage 1 is worth it, both for some HP increase and the warranty. I have the kit on my 08 and think it is worth it.

W/O LSD, you will not have "anti-torque steer" but can have power induced torque steer which is manageable with a smoother right foot.
