Replace your JCW shift **** lately?

I've seen many posts of people changing out their factory shift ***** so I am thinking there is some old ***** just lying around. I actually like the factory look but would like the red numbers instead of the white. I have seen some in the marketplace for 50-75, but these seem too expensive as a new custom whalen **** isn't much more. SO, if you have one of these lying around, let me know and maybe we can make a deal and earn you a little extra christmas $ that you otherwise might not have had

The JCW **** brand new is almost $90, so $50-75 for one coming off a new JCW seems right. I sold mine in that range.

I know I'm bringing to life an old thread, but anyone know the part number for the JCW **** with the red lettering? I missed the last one on Marketplace, and I'm about to just give up and order one from my dealer.

That is unless someone has one for sale right now? (Just maybe).
I tried searching on REALOEM, but I couldn't find the Factory JCW one with the red lettering.

Here you go:

RealOEM.com - R56 Coop.S JCW Gear shift ****/shift lever cover

It doesn't actually say the lettering is red, but if you cross-compare it to the listing for the regular Cooper S, you'll see that the part numbers are different:

RealOEM.com - R56 Cooper S Gear shift ****/shift lever cover

So it seems you'll want to order 25117587886 for silver or 25117587887 for chrome.

Hey Edge

Thanks for the quick reply. I did see that on REALOEM, but wasn't too sure if it was the one with the red numbers or not. I also thought it was weird that it could only be purchased with the boot and not seperately.

When I called around, even with a 20% discount, the cost was $186.06 (MSRP being $232.57). That's an expensive replacement part, but I guess if I want it that badily, I'm going to have to pay the $186.06 for it.

Thanks for the part number and the links above.

I'm not too surprised that you have to buy the **** and boot as a set.
One of the changes with the 2007 model year is that the **** and boot are considered one assembly; separating the two of them is kind of a pain, by the way.

When I went to sell my JCW shift **** I had my MINI dealer parts mgr look up the price of the shift ****. It was about $85, and that was for just the red-lettered **** itself. So while there may be a part for the ****/boot assembly, there is one for the **** itself. Or you are just getting bad quotes.

Hmm, I looked as did my dealer and the only part number they could find was for the combined **** and boot the same one that Edge mentioned above. Would you happen to have the part number for just the $85 **** still? I would rather just order that, but if I have to, I guess I'll pay the $185 for both.

I would wait out the marketplace a little longer. It seems like they come available quite often. That's where I bought mine and there was 2-3 available at that time 5 months ago.

I never asked for the part number. I only wanted to know to get an idea of price for selling mine.

I sold my JCW carbon fiber not too long ago and went with a Whalen ****. That was the best mod I've done so far. Get the Whalen ****. It is so much better than the OEM or OEM JCW.

There's one on the For Sale section right now. I think I saw it for $65 incl shipping.

I bought a new JCW over the weekend and will sell my OEM shift **** as I want to get the JCW CF/leather **** and boot. The stock **** doesn't feel right in my palm so it has to go.

If anyone is interested in buying it, I will make you a deal. Send me a PM! Thanks,

Mike

Anybody have the JCW CF/alcantara or leather shift **** together with the OEM/non-JCW shift boot?? Do they fit together or does one have to get the boot?

You can use the JCW shifter with the OEM boot. I did that at first, but the OEM boot is pretty cheesy compared to the JCW boot. You will succumb sooner or later.

Like RaceTripper said. You can use the same boot. After 18 months I dunped the JCW shifter for a Whalen Shifter. Vast improvement in my opinion.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm hunting for a stock JCW **** or the part number of one I can buy through the dealer. My dealer can't find a part number for the **** so I'm a little confused.

Does anyone have a definitive part number or want to sell theirs?
