I was wondering how many JCW kits are to be sold in the US. I thought I read they plan to ship 1,500 kits out of a total 3,000 kits worldwide. Is that 1,500 kits per year, or only 1,500 US kits and when they're sold that's all? It would seem JC Works could continue selling them beyond the 1,500 since demand is there, or will they replace it with another Works type performance kit later? I can't believe they wouldn't want to continue to offer something to the US market beyond the initial 1,500 kits.

Spoke to Mini today..In fact a nice guy called me back regarding this..my dealership can not tell me when to expect my kit..We send men to the moon but can't be told when a kit is coming. I would rather have it when I get the Mini (sometime in oct) or else you know what it's like after the newness has worn off i'm not sure I'd want to re run-in the engine again..Anyway he will investigate and get back to me Mon/Tues and i'll report...I know I sound like my dealer but trying to find out when the kit is coming in is another mini stumble !...By the way OFFICIAL news on the 2004 stumble..straight from Mini..SOME WILL HAVEW IT AND SOME WILL NOT !!!!!...I've ordered the one that doesn't have it so wish me luck...But seriously that's the official answer i was given..........Like going to vegas when buying a mini !!

I picked up my JCW install this past week, it was number 1208 (the third one my dealer did). I asked how many were going to be sold they said a total of 1,800 but I didn;t asked if that was just within the US or was it worldwide.

my dealer had 4 come in at the same time, and asked which one I wanted. The strange thing was the numbers were not in any particulat order, all were 4 digit units but like 1293, 1418, 1597. If you look at the thread at mini2 listng all the jcw kits.. There were individuals with 2400 high and numbers in the 3 digits. So exactly how many JCW kits in the world? who really knows. A friend told me that there are 3K kits in the US now.

Fangi, don't come to Vegas to buy your MINI. Desert charges $2500 over MSRP.

Don't worry about that, once the engine is run in there's no special procedures when having the JCW kit installed. Just take it easy the first hundred or so miles, as you would with new tires, just to make sure nothing flies apart. The run in procedure is for the engine, not the JCW kit. Mike Cooper even said in an interview that the harder your ran it in the faster the car would be.....

I received an answer today for my question directly from John Cooper Works sales staff. They said that the number of kits to be supplied to the United states is not limited or restricted in anyway. So I guess that means they will be selling this kit for the foreseeable future until BMW switchs to a new engine.
