was there a price quote for the part or did they just say they're going to order it and then tell you the price later?

I ordered one at a local dealer (Irvine, CA) on Aug 5th.....still waiting.......I was told they were back ordered at the factory. Morristown said the same thing. Anybody know of a dealer that can actual get one? Has anyone purchased and received one in the last 8 weeks?

Alta has dropped their prices on the inlet tubes to 150, that might be something to look into

I can have this part ordered through my cousin that just moved to the UK. He has already sent me one. It took a little over a week to get it because it was not in stock at the dealership. I was also able to get Euro wheel arches as well. PM me know if you guys need any help getting these parts!

Out of the blue, the dealer just emailed me to let me know it arrived and they'll be shipping it to me tonight! For reference my part was ordered on August 27th.

Got a call from Morris folks also stating they have stock on the parts also. I will have later this week.

I am guessing repair stock is now available everywhere ....

got the tube, how does the smaller side tube on the non-JCW part disconnect from the engine. There's a small plastic clip around it, and i really don't want to break it. does the clip slide up or pull out or what?

for reference this picture already has this small plastic piece removed on the far left side on the smaller tube: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...8&postcount=69

Twist it and pull it out as an assembly, the two small pipes together.

Thanks! but i figured it out. that small plastic clip has two hooks on both sides at the bottom, push those in and it slides up vertically.

Anyway, my quick 5 minute impressions are that the turbo is just a bit louder and the car feels just a bit peppier, like there's just a little bit less lag to the throttle. Oh and my car is a bone stock 2008 R56 aside from wheels/tires.

Thanks in advance.

JCW Turbo Inlet Tube Installed.....

Well since I started this thread.......thought I would report back that the tube came in and is installed. Cost was $132.00. As mentioned before the rubber sleeve on the turbo end needs to be transfered to the new tube. Looks much cleaner than the stock tube, can't collapes, looks factory, looks more finished than the silicone hoses, and I'll assume delivers the same horsepower gain as the Alta tube. See the attached picture.........

How did you get the smaller hose off I am not familiar with the connector. Was it easy to transfer the rubber portion on to the new JCW inlet tube.. Secondly, I notice you have the M7 tube that goes between the Intercooler and Turbo. Did you do that before the JCW kit or after. Did you notice a power difference and did you notice a sound difference with the M7 tube. Do you think your dealer would have any complaints about warranty. It seems it just deletes the muffler. Last was it hard to get to in order to install the M7 tube.

There is a strange 'U' shaped retaining clip that holds this hose in the valve cover. I wiggled it while pulling up on it and it popped off. At the turbo inlet the 'rubber portion' or sleeve comes right out of the JCW tube. And the sleeve in the OEM tube is bonded in and needs to be peeled out. The M7 tube is an impressive piece. It was a pain to get the screw holding the OEM tube/muffler in. Tried the top and the bottom and just kept monkey-en with it to get it out. This tube does delete the muffler and the OEM tube is kind of pinched off or kinked at the bottom where it bends and goes into the intercooler. The M7 tube is a consistent diameter the full length. Slight sound difference, and what seemed to be a slight performance difference too. My dealer told me that changing the exhaust (cat back) and changing the intake was OK. So I hope this still qualifies. I don't have a JCW kit just the air filter module. And your last question....No...I didn't notice any sound/noise difference with the JCW tube. My car has been running awesome lately, so thanks M7, Alta, JCW, and Magnaflow.......

Just received mine today and installed it on an Euro version car (non MAF) - Have to say the difference is night and day to the normal Cooper S airbox!!

Lot of torque throughout the rev range - and a whole lot smoother too. Coupled with the factory JCW exhaust the car now sounds like it should have been from the factory .. love it.

Reviving this great thread. Any new JCW turbo inlet tube installations out there? For the folks who already have it installed, how has the performance been? Has it changed since installation? Also, does MINI make any JCW hot side or cold side boost tubes that us Cooper S folks can upgrade too?

jcw turbo inlet

I just ordered the JCW turbo inlet from http://www.waymotorworks.com/jcw-tur...5-r56-r57.html for a non JCW MCS. I asked if it would work with DDM Race intake with RAM and he said it would work. Also, the turbo inlet for a JCW is larger than the MCS inlet. Terry from WMW told me people use bicycle tube to seal around the inlet to make it larger and it will work. I hope so, haven't recvd it yet to try but will keep you posted! I have the Alta boost tube from turbo to Alta FMI so i cut a section of the original tube and placed it on the outlet hoping it will size up but don't know yet, anyone know what the JCW inlet size is compared to the MCS? Haven't had dyno does anyone have a clue on what kind of HP i'm pushing?
Mods include
ALta Access port
Alta Hot side Boost Tube
Alta Front Mnt Intercooler
DDM Race intake with RAM and pressurized box
Upgraded DV
JCW Turbo inlet(hard plastic) soon!
