I notice that the video is posted on the Forge website, does that mean they are going to sell a cold side hose soon? That would compliment my Forge hot side hose!

Although this is a revieling video, it doesn't appear to be of an R56 mini, nor is the metal replacement unit. Only heard of one instance of a collapsing intake and that came from ALTA on their earlier intakes. Bear in mind that collapse is not likely if intake resistance is low via short intake with high flow air filter.

I think the intention was to show others what is meant by a collapsing intake.
The intake is obviously an AUDI part (hence AUDIzine) and it was well known when I had my similar VW 1.8T that their intake couldn't cope with the extra demands of the 19psi max boost.
A metal part was made at a reasonable cost because the volume of sales was a LOT higher for that engine.

Sam, just wondering how your install is going? Did the JCW tube fit your car? Sounds like you have an '07 S. I also have an '07 S. Do you have pics after the install?

So I went to Cincinnati to claim my JCW tube ... But when I got there, the parts buddy said, "oops, I was looking at the wrong number when I told you. We have stock r56 tubes here though. Yours is still on it's way from Germany." ....

Thanks parts genius, I was stuck in 2 hours of rush hour traffic. At least I'm taking all these damn complimentary mints WITH ME !!!!! $%^&*(

I'll look forward to collaborating some results this weekend, *hopefully*..

Yep Updates!!! My apologies for my forgetfulness!!
Got the JCW tube from Germany and on Saturday I did the install of the boost tubes and JCW tube, so that all the plumbing could be changed at once.
The Alta plumbing was a little tricky, if only because you have to finagle SO much to get the stuff to fit perfectly, but it's not " hard " .. So after about 3 to 3.5 hours I was all done with those and then I put the JCW inlet tube on in 30 sec.
Took out for a test drive, came back to check my connections, and then went back out to have fun with it!

WOW

I really notice a difference, and am glad I went with the boost tubes as well. I can definitely tell that there is more response on the throttle, especially above 4000, but below it as well.
Not sure if this is "more" hp and torque, definitely a little, but certainly at least "quicker access" to power I've already got.

My first few minutes out, the throttle just felt so nice and quick! Not even REALLY jumping on it, either. Of course there's probably not any bottlenecks down at 2-3k rpms, but the combination of the boost tubes and inlet tube are both NICE!!!!
Of course the IC muffler was a PAIN to remove. But, there is more growl to the engine on acceleration AND you can hear the turbine whistle more Best with windows down too. It sounds now like it did when I had my DDM intake on it but without the very noticeable dump valve with every shift. But that's ok I have some of my whoooshh sound back!

More power, and it's truly noticeable! The JCW tube is so easy to install and with the right part # it will FIT YOURS PERFECTLY
IT FITS PERFECTLY
IT FITS PERFECTLY.

Pull the rubber spacing ring from your stock tube and then pull the one out of the JCW tube and put yours IN. Works like a charm.

I have a tube ordered from Classic Mini. They said it was backordered, and will have to ship from Europe. I'll be sure to post my impressions once it gets here, hopefully within a week or two.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone installed just the inlet tube and then the boost tubes?

I'm looking for a comparision between without tube, with tube and then with boost tubes.... even if it's seat of your pants.

Thanks,

Mark

I installed the JCW inlet tube yesterday, perfect fit and my Mini runs fine. Don't know if anything really changed but the engine does seem a "bit" more responsive. The BOV is much more noticeable now too.
