JCW Stage1 kit update for Sept '08???

I just spoke with my MA about adding the JCW Stage 1 kit to my CooperS due to arrive in September. He has been told that starting this month, the Cooper S is getting some kind of engine tweeking and that a newer, updated Stage 1 kit will be available in September '08 for all CooperS produced from July 08 and on. Anyone else heard of this??? Kinda excited to see what changes may have occured....

This is the first I've heard of this. Another case of the dealership misreading something, or do we have news here?

For 08+ Only ?? ...

Since there's really no terribly drastic design changes to the car, at all, must really be with the ECU tuning perhaps ?? If anything... perhaps it's here-say though.

Sounds to me like an inexperienced MA getting the tuning kit and car from factory mixed up, wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last.

UPDATE:

I just spoke with the Service Manager and he confirmed that all Cooper S produced from the beginning of July '08 cannot get the current JCW Engine tuning kit BECAUSE the Exhaust is currently being reworked. He states that a large number of 2007s with the tuning kit are having some type of heat problem and it had something to do with the JCW exhaust. The reworked exhaust and tuning kit will again be available starting sometime in September.

Same thing my dealer told me..

They are working on a new exhaust, also for the Clubman.

But that still doesn't change the fact that it is mighty overpriced

Just like the R53 JCW kit, right?

I paid $1,770 including install for my JCW Stage 1. That's about the same price as an aftermarket turbo-back exhaust. I find it's hardly overpriced considering it's about the same power gain plus carries no possible warranty altercations.

Yes, I was told the same thing. I'm waiting for the 09 kit too, for my late 08.

Over here in Europe it's more like 2000-2500 euros..

.. for 17 hp or so..

You can buy a FMIC, CAI, cat-back and a ECU remap for that

Very interesting. Especially considering I just had the JCW kit installed a week ago.

I wonder if the new JCW exhaust will be available separately.
