R56 W/ JCW AERO KIT QUESTION
I'm going to be buying a Mini here in the next year and am really trying to figure out what I like and do not like.
I believe if I am right that there are at least two aero kits from Mini. I've seen pictures of cars with aero-kits where the wheel wells still have the black piece, but the rest of the car does not. I've also seen pictures of Mini's with aero-kits that do not have any black plastic over the wheels and they are paint matched to the car.
Is the latter of those two the JCW Aero Kit? Or is that an after-market kit that I've seen.
Pictures of all the different kits on an R56 would certainly help my decision on whether I will get any aero package.
Thanks!

there are two optional aero kits, like you said. The Factory Aero Kit which is in step 2 or 3 (cant remember) of the configurator, and the JCW one, as seen above. as for the ones you have seen where the wheel arches match the body color, those are custom jobs. dont know who all has them, but i think you can see one in the laser blue owners thread.

This is Wetceal's MCS that came with the factory aero kit(not the JCW one). She's had the wheel arches painted, blacked out her chrome parts, and added some carbon fiber pieces. I like the JCW aero kit personall the best, but the factory aero kit with wheel arches painted looks pretty good and makes the MINI look different from stock a bit but not as overstated imo as the JCW one if that's the look you're going for

Now that's one cool ride, just the way I'd like to configure mine.

None what so ever....it is ssswwwweeeeeeeeetttt.....it really sells the car...from 30-70 mph, it has a high pitched whistle that you can hear if you have REALLY good hearing like i do, but some people cant hear it....once you hit 70ish you feel the downward force and the whistle is gone, but VERY NICE, highly recommended!

Install aero kit on a used 07 MCS?
Hello,
Thanks for all the great 411. Quick question, what are your thoughts on installing a JCW Aero kit on an 07 MCS w/ 10k miles on it vs. a factory new MCS?
The reason I ask is that replacing body panels on non-new vehicles doesn't always match up perfectly. Of course the dealership advises against it (great way to sell a new car) but I would prefer to hear from the impartial folks.
Any idea on how "exact the fit" is on the JCW aero kit? Do you think the body panels would line up well enough?
Thanks,
Tob

The panels should match up just fine, the kit is like a giant erector set and fits together with clips and screws. My front end has been off a couple of times to add some parts ( intercooler ect...)and goes back together very easily. What color is the car...maybe you should paint it out on all the panels and the wheel wells, that will insure a perfect match and fit.Any good body shop could probably do this for less than the dealer...

Pre-painted JCW Aero Kit
You should be able to get a JCW pre-painted Aero kit from your dealer. It is in the latest JCW catalog and did list for $1999.00 but they just went up to $2086.00. I have a MCS arriving on the Asian Chorus and my kit has already been ordered. I was quoted $2527.00 to have the primer version installed, including parts, labor & paint. Probably a wash when all is said and done but I wanted factory paint. I do know that not all colors are available for the pre-painted version according to the parts manager.

I have a Factory Aero Kit with painted wells. Starting enxt month, I believe, the Factory Aero Kit will all have painted wells, so you won't have to get it custom painted like mine.
The JCW still will have partial painted wells.
Click my link below and see the factory Aero kit with painted wells.

Decide which model MINI you want first. You can always add the aero kit later. Go to the MINIUSA site and play with the configuration tool. Get the options that cannot be easily added later for your base model.
