Interior/Exterior R56 painted brake calipers
Thanks guys,
I'll probably go w/ the G2 kit then. I'll check to see if it comes in different colors I like both red and gold. I did some photoshop color treatments, ...the gold actually looks great. (wish I could share, yet I am exceeded my limit on this forum for attaching images) :(

Hey all--
Been watching this thread for a while and ended up buying the G2 kit in red. Quick question, is there an optimal weather/temperature that I should wait for to paint the calipers? It is going to be in the 40-50F this week in Columbus, OH, is it ok to paint in this weather?
Thanks in advance.

Not trying to be a smartass... I just can't recall. But I do remember it saying on the instructions there is a temp range that's best. IIRC, it's something like 50-80 degrees. Maybe a little warmer.
true that on the temperature for painting, it states it in the instructions. It also says to give 2 hours before putting wheels back on and 24hour dry time before driving (or something like that). I gave it about 72 hours before putting the wheels on and driving it. -Just wanted to be sure it dried really well before ruining all my hard work. -Especially if it's cold where you are, you'll really want to give ample time for the paint to dry.
I started to paint my calipers today (G2- red)but was unable to get them clean enough to consider painting them. I used two cans of CRC Brakeleen, one green & one red, along with a wire brush & a green #M pad and when I dissembled the brakes to finish up the cleaning, I realized I has barely put a dent in the brake dust buildup. I left the can of cleaner that was in the kit alone, figuring I'd use that for a final shot of cleaner, as it looks like a generic non-chlorinated cleaner anyway. I even tried some Eagle One Etching Mag Cleaner on the brackets after I had removed them. That worked a bit better than the spray stuff, but I don't dare use it on the calipers. That stuff is nasty. A strange thing happened to just the rear brackets- they turned color on me; from silver to a gunmetal grey. I didn't leave it on for more than a minute or so and was constantly working it with the brush & pad, then washed it off. The front brackets stayed bright silver. Very strange.
So, what did you use to clean everything before painting? Does anyone have the torque specs on the caliper brackets and the caliper pins?
