Gracias ! Took me four hours to do the first set of calipers. This time, just one hour and 45 minutes from start to finish. Next MINI... going for the one hour mark.

I screwed up last weekend.

A few months ago, I had ordered the red kit from one of the NAM vendors, and put it on, following all of the instructions. It looked great!

Until, I was playing with my 3,500 PSI power washer cleaning the wheels, when I saw the Epoxy paint start to come off the calipers. Now I have to do it again.

On the bright side, the wheels look great!

Looks great all of you! I'm thinking about doing it to Trouble, but my calipers are really old... Maybe new brakes first. But that's waaay down on the list...

I want to paint mine, but orange which is a color I can't seem to find. Also if possible more of a lamborghini orange rather then a chevy orange.

What a coincidence... I just painted mine orange today. I used paint meant for headers and a high temp clear.

Hi guys !!

I used the G2 kit on my first mini ... This time, I'm about to order a kit and do red again ...

- Is there any real difference between the G2 kit and the Dupli color ???
Otherwise ... http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...egoryCode=3276

Dupli color 16 BUCKS !!!!!! And heck I can even go with 2 kits and give it a million coats ...

They are the 17inch ICW Mach 10's with the stock tire size. I am not sure they make them anymore. I think they are great wheels though.

good job everyone! It's just stunning!

I'm thinking to paint mines but I don't know if it will be in red or green. I have Flame Spoke alloys. What do you think? If someone could do it with Photoshop, it would be better to see and decide.

Thanks!

I am also looking to paint my Mini's calipers,
couples of questions after reading all these posts:

1) is brush on better than dissembling the calipers and painted w/ a spray?
2) any prep besides cleaning needed? -i.e. powder coating?
3) do you need to put a clear coat on? If so, is that a spray or brush on?

Kit vs no kit? Which to choose?
Thanks, looking for advice from those who have done this before. (I am thinking of going the standard red route, although black is a close second choice of mine.)

I used the brush on b/c I didn't want to disassemble the calipers. It was easy to prep clean with paper towel and the cleaner. I also decided to use the G2 Caliper paint (higher temperature rating than Duplicolor) and got it off ebay. I did not put on a clear coat. The dirt has rubbed right off the calipers when I washed the car.

Hopefully others will chime in.

G2 is really the way to go. Super easy to work with and wears like powder coat.

No, no other prep needed with the G2 kit, it includes all you need. I used the included brake cleaner and a wire brush to get the heavy stuff off.

I just poped off my wheels and taped up what I didn't want red on the caliper. I wouldn't put clear on them, they don't need it. It's been months now and I just srcub them down with a good brush and they look new.

Check the link in my sig. I started a write up on what I did and will put some more picts up shortly.

Sparks
