Fitted these today, 1 led lighting the door handle cup, another firing down as an external puddle light

Awesome...Really like it. I'm about to work on a LED project on my MCS... if you have a "How to" for this, I'd love to see it.

Where did you tie in the LED's? The puddle light on the bottom of the door or somewhere else..... Sure wish I had puddle lights built in....would make my project a lot easier.

It was a one-off custom job. Mikey is very knowlegeable about modding MINI's, and his own words were, "Not an easy job": http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-e...le-lights.html

cool idea, does it flicker like that as it brightens or is it just the camera?

From what mikey says on M2, I guess these will not be available anytime soon and even if they are they'll cost lots.

I just finished my passenger side door handle.
i do have a question, how did you get your leds to be so bright i used a blue, but yours look more like an aqua.
also what size led did you use?

I don't think that's a blue LED, it looks like a "cool white" LED to me.

I'd totally do this if it were DIY'able.

This is for a gen 1 door handle and the door handles are different. I am not sure how much different but they are different.

Could be close enough though to work.

can't wait until instructions are done. Might have to figure this out for myself when I get my car back from the Dealer.

I'm assuming they're just tapped off of the interior dome light. they seem to turn on and off with it. the led's are such low resistance, they wouldn't affect anything.

just tap wires off the dome light, run wires to door handle, drill holes for led's in door handle, connect wires, done... just an assumption.

Yeah thanks for the constructive post , but i think your way would take to long. I just checked my mini and the puddle lights turn on when the car is unlocked from the keyfob. It would be way easier to tap into there.
I also found a thread on taking the handle off.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...+handle+remove
Its about half way down.
This looks like a project for next weekend I'm ordering the LEDs.
