No thank you. I don't really like the look of the rubber boot. Nor do I desire to take apart my console in the middle of Chicago winter! Haha. Here are some other options I found on eBay:

If anyone is interested they could message the seller for dimensions. And if it works, you would keep the car 100% British!

About the Craven Well Cover, I'm in the same boat as you. Love the look, not the price. Makes me wish I still worked in a machine shop. For that price, something CNC'd would be more fitting. Not just a $5 piece of stamped and coated steel .

Yeah but to do that, you'd have to replace a whole lot of the Mini's parts with stuff that's actually British as well.

Just wanted to clarify that the Shift Well Cover that we make is not a piece of stamped and coated steal. It is actually turned out of 6061 Aluminum on a CNC lathe (Mazak). I designed this piece personally, and I'm open to more feedback about this one or the 2nd gen version!

Cheers!

How difficult would it be for a machine shop to make something like this for an R53?

Difficult. I'll bet pdxtdi has something more to say about it, but as I understand it the shift well is the answer to the question. The original desire was to make a gated shift boot, but it just wasn't feasible or reasonable with the Mini transmission.

Making the piece in the picture on a CNC Mill is not overly hard, but getting it to work right on the car is another question entirely.
