Interior/Exterior Shift Boot
Shift Boot
Hey all,
Could be a quick question, but I was wondering if anyone made a shift boot that looks similiar to the following...

...preferably in the stock grey/anthracite color. Something with the "stepped" ridges and all - for whatever reason, I've always thought this looked a hell of a lot cooler.
Thanks,
Matt

A rubber boot designed for a Hyundai Tiburon will fit the MINI with a little trimming. Do a search here on NAM for "hyundai tiburon rubber shift boot" (without the quotes), and there are a bunch of threads. OctaneGuy has a particularly good writeup.
The picture the OP posted was a little fuzzy, but he's actually looking for a stepped rubber boot, like this:

Hahah yeah...fills the void of industry going-on's news.I was wondering how long it would be before someone might have caught it. =)
Riquiscott, thanks for the heads up. Did the search, and MOST informative.
Cartar452, I did check out the Cravenspeed thing, but I would have much preferred them make a true "shift gate" styled thing, rather than a flat plate assembly.
On that note, if anyone knows of a shift gate manufactured that would be Mini compatible, I would love to give it a look. All said though, I do like the rubber look.

Hey folks,
for anyone interested, I was able to find an AUDI TT rubber shift boot from www.shokan.com.
It was $25+shipping. I couldn't find any threads, confirming whether at TT boot will fit. I couldn't find a Tiburon boot for the life of me.
Crossing my fingers. I rather have a little Audi in my Mini than a little Hyundai anyways.
I'll let you guys know if I am successful installing the TT boot.

finally got the Audi TT boot and it fits
ok guys, i got my TT shift boot and it fits with a little modification. Basically I had to cut a few more holes, because not all the stock holes line up. The TT boot looks a bit smaller than Tiburon aftermarket rubber boot too. I couldn't quite make the top hole cover of the shift boot cover the bottom shaft notch because its shorter than the Tiburon boot. I stuck a rubber 1/2in grommet on the shaft to keep the dirt out at the top boot opening.
I personally would rather have the Tiburon boot because its bigger, but I can't find them anywhere, although without them being side by side the TT boot is growing on me. The folds have sharper edges, kinda sleeker if you ask me. I might even cut 1-2 inches of the shaft with a dyegrinder once I find the perfect shift ****. Everyone seems to like the whalen *****, but they look a little boring to me. Maybe one of these MOMOs?
I'd love to hear everyones thoughts.
(first pic is of my TT boot, second belongs to another member on here just for comparison, third is of some Momo ***** I'm looking at)

I have the JCW Alcantara shift and ebrake boots and love them. They really dress up the interior and have a much warmer, more quality look and feel than the stock boots which were tearing due to poor material.

I grabbed one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/0086-...spagenameZWD1V
To give credit where credit is due, I believe this mod was pioneered on a MINI by MSIFITOY (thanks for driving me nuts with finding one of these Sid). The Tiburon boot by Tuscani is discontinued and very hard to find.

I think there are a few of us with Tiburon boots. I didn't like the one on my wife's TT, and the Tiburon fits reasonably well, if you are willing to work with it. I cut 6 pie-slices out of mine to fit perfectly.

This is an older picture, and it has been cleaned up just a little since then.

Heck what I'd really like is an alternative to the Craven shift well cover. While I'd love one, $85 is a bit hard to swallow for a peice of metal that in essence doesn't actually have any practical function.
