Interior/Exterior rear lights removal
Why would you want to remove the lights if you don't have to? The existing how-to seems to show excellent results doing it with the lights (lenses) in-place.
sorry jds...I was listening to Soft Cell that's why...
I know that the mod works without removing the ligths but i think it would be more efficient on long term to apply the film and then to reount the lights (to protect the film from wind, dust and water)...

I think that if you do remove the rear lights that you will have to solder them back in when you are done. Most people that I know that have done things like replace the rear lights with the clears had to go to a shop to get it done because they couldn't remove it themselves.
I am just going to tint mine with the lights still in.

Do a search for tail lights and you'll find several lengthy threads on adding the extra brake lights, tinting tail lights, and removing the tail lights.
I've done them all on my car.
The tail lights do come off. There is one nut (I don't remeber the size. Maybe 8mm.) and two clips on the housing. They pop right off. No need for soldering or anything else.

^ ^ Really! That's great! I had been looking at prices for the clears and it said something about having to solder them back in...so I assumed it would be more difficult.

I removed mine and it is just one nut and a couple of clips. the clips are on the outside of the lights one near the top and one near the bottom.
Take the nut off and then reach your hand in there and you'll feel a couple of 1" wide flat smooth metal things that need to be pushed towards the middle of the car. Do them one at a time. When you press it in, push that part of the light out to get the clip to clear the edge. Then go to the other clip.
I found it very hard to do one side since the rubber seal around the light was kind of stuck on. It took a bit of pushing to get it to free up. The trick was to do the other side first, the easy one, to get confidence that I was doing it right and then go to the stuck side and push it out.
It's pretty straight forward but I also had another set of lights so I could look at it to see how it works.
Hope that helps!
