I bought and installed the light protection kit from RandyBMC for $60
http://www.mini-motorsport.com/exterior.php

It is just a set (6 pieces) of clear 3M plastic which is cut to the about the right size and shape as the front headlights (need to specify whether for the xenons or standard lights because the shape is different due to the light washers) the turn/driving lights and the fog lights. Each plastic comes with a peel off backing. You clean the glass of each light with denatured alcohol to remove oils (cannot use rubbing alcohol), peel off the backing, place the protection sheet at one edge of the light and peel off more and more of the backing as you apply pressure to make the plastic stick to the light surface. It looks like a thick plastic sticker on your light. Smooth out the bubbles with your fingers from the center outward or from one side to the other. Takes a few minutes to install everything. There are six lights to do on my MCS and after the first two- the fog lamps, I was good in doing the rest- I saved the headlights for last and did a good job.

Since it is clear you can't really tell that they are there- no yellowing or cloudiness. no bubbles and it sticks good and the light of the headlights are great. They will protect my precious Xenons! Those lights are great.

I too have the X-Pel kit from Auto Clear Guard, installed it yesterday (bought it AFTER one of foglights got busted). comes with 8 pieces including the Rallly Lights. It's surprisingly thick stuff, and easier to work with if it's warm. I kept my pieces inside the car in the sun and used them as I needed them.

The parking lights are the easiest, the foglights are a little more difficult simply because they're recessed so far. The rally lights are curved so they're a little more challenging but are good practice for the headlamps (Xenon in my case).

The only issues I had with the headlights are the two small bubbles I have on each one after the process. I couldn't squeegee them out, so now I'm debating on pricking them with a pin.

Looks like they will be very clear once the water/alcohol solution evaporates completely underneath and the appear to be very sturdy/thick so maybe they'll work well.

I'm getting my broken fog replaced this week so I'll know how much I would've saved had I had them on to begin with.

Cheers,
Bill

http://www.lamin-x.com has light protection for the MC with or without washers. It's much easier to work with than the 40 or 80 mil StonGard or X-pel. Have kits for either just headlights or full front lighting. Clear, Optical Blue, Smoked, or Yellow too

I have had the lense protectors on for several weeks now and they are doing great. I had no real bubbles on installation. The directions say start at one end and work you way across to the other slowly and that is what I did with good success. The finished product is absolutely clear and you cannot easily tell that there is a clear protectant coat. No cracks or trouble with the clear film so far. Very nice.

Got headlights and turn signal protection kit from Mini Madness. Easy install, and you can only see where I buggered it up if you look really close.
