Does this count as my first mod?

Ok, so I knew I wasn't going to change my MINI much when I got him, but things are changing LOL
This is NEMO's first 'mod'
It's a window cling on the dash.. made on my computer. (I'm a graphic designer)

Being a chic, I don't know much about cars to get into wiring new lights and such, but I've been liking the boot lights

It's starts with decals. Then one day you wake up one day with your wallet lighter and your MINI more youified.

That is cool!!! (I love stickers)

Can you tell us how you did it? Where did you by the static cling vinyl to print on? Can you use a standard ink jet printer? (I'm a video editor who knows a little bit about graphic design)

Thanks!

Ok, you guys are going to laugh.. BUT, I bought the window cling stuff from the dollar store. Its made by crayola. You can pick it up at any regular place that sells paper stuff for your printer. It's specifically made for ink jet printers.
Just make sure you set your printer to a 'high gloss' or 'transparancy' setting so the ink won't run.
Then also, make sure you put the paper in the right way so it prints on the correct side... I made that mistake last night
Let it dry, peal off the backing, and there you have it, your own window cling

I second all of this. I would also like to know where you got the stuff and how you made it

Thanks! I work right next to a Dollar Tree. I'll walk over there during lunch.

I assume you cut out around the logo before you stuck it to the dash?

No, I used the exacto knife right on the dash.. is that bad?

TOTALLY kidding, yeah, cut it out with my ninja exacto skills before putting it on there.

I orginally wanted a stripe that went down the dash that looked like this:

But couldn't get the bubbles out.. and it frustrated me.. so I went simpler

Excellent job - you couldn't do white with your technique, though, could you? White would be clear on that material, if I understand how it works.

Your too cool, & yes it counts, baby steps you & Nemo are going to have a long life together with time to mod away. Thanks for the tips on making our own cling stickers. I'm heading to the store now.

White does end up clear. Not sure how you would get white in there. Maybe paint the backing of the cling (not the whole thing cause it still needs to 'cling') with white.. but then I would worry about the white getting onto whatever surface I was putting it on

I don't thik it's possible... it would need to be opaque white ink, and printers don't have that - they use transparent colored ink on white to make a shade. Oh, well.

imagoX, you would need to find the same type sticker paper that instead of being clear is opaque white, much like normal paper, and then any ink would be printed on top of the white. I know that this exists i just dont know if it is commonly available.

I walked over to the Dollar Store and looked through all their Crayola stuff (even got the store manager to help me) and we couldn't find it. Can you tell me the exact name of the product? Or even take a photo of it or something?

Again, great idea!

I love it!! Haven't had a chance to put it in my sig yet, but I will eventually. Now I've gotta find some of that cling paper stuff...

That's awesome! I wish I had a good name for our car.

I was thinking of putting the name of our new local Mini club on the dash. The name is "Mid-Columbia Mini's". If you've got time to take a crack at coming up with a logo, it would be greatly appreciated! (I can even take it in Adobe Illustrator format if that's easier)
