Painted Dash

Does anyone know a place that would paint my dash and door panels? I want to paint them a glossy black (like the piano black color now offered). Any ideas?

I was thinking about doing doing the same thing. I imagine that a quality job would be at least $300. If you buy the Piana Black dash from your dealershipi it shouldn't run you that much more. Worth looking into.

There's a place in Alhambra that I've used before. They do quality work. I'll give you their number tomorrow.

While you're waiting, you should go register at the SSOCMCC site. The event is one day away now!

I have a spray gun and compressor too. I just dont wanna take a chance on messing anything up, I rather have a shop do it.

I have seen all these threads started by you the past few weeks...turbocharger, MCS engine swap, racing seats, repaint exterior, paint interior, etc...

I am not trying to be mean or rude, but I think you are young and have too much money to spend/waste. Don't feel bad because it's part of growing up and I used to be the same way and you learn best from mistakes.

If you are satisfied with your MC, leave it the way it is and be happy. If anything, go to a good driver school.

You can invest the $$$ in so many other things besides car parts that would probably make you much happier and wiser. Travelling, friends, rennovations, family, etc.

Buying aftermarket car parts is one of the worst investments there is, but fun and addicting...

haha sounds like my dad. Yeah of course there is better things I can spend my money on, but plain and simple I dont want too. Its not a poor investment because im keeping my mini no matter what. It was the first car I paid off and its going to stay. I just want to make it as special as I can. I do have the money to spend right now. I have about 2k of stuff in my garage that I have yet to install.

ok wait a minute... I just looked at your profile and you are 21. Two years older than me. Says you are also a full time student. I feel that you calling me young is plain stupid. I am also a full time student, at Cal State Fullerton. I also have two jobs right now. I have my own apartment and I pay for everything myself. Age is just a number.

^^All true, but I am majoring in Engineering Physics, then going to Automotive engineering grad school; so anything I do to the MINI, I see it as a future investment.

And sorry for making that last comment towards you so blunt; I just read it over and it sounds harsher than what I intended.

And yes, my parents still nag at me to spend my time and money on other interests.

The most common places to do the painting are automotive paint specialty shops(body shops) or custom airbrush shops.

The problem is two fold-
You need to remove the dash and door pieces to do the painting.
You need to prep the surface for painting or sometimes the exisiting finish will not allow the new paint to adhere properly.

Anthracite is good for painting over while Alloy patina doesn't allow for repainting- you should just get additional parts and paint them or get them in the color you want.

Spending money on a car to mod it is up to you the owner.
It's your money and your car. Doesn't matter what age you are.
In fact about 70% of all cars are modified by their owner.
Enjoy. Just choose wisely.

Hmmm....

By the way...I took all the parts off and brought them to a body shop. I just got the steering wheel done too, just don't have updated pictures yet.
