I was thinking about removing the clear bra from my mirrors. I don't like the way they look. Before doing so, I was wondering how often mirrors get rock chips. Has anyone had a rock chip on their mirrors? Thanks in advance.

 

'04 38,000 mi....no chips on mirror, just a bunch of teensy chips on the front of the bonnet and front bumper what look like white dots (not noticable unless you are right up close) so maybe a clear bra for me ormy next MINI

 

I personally haven't (44K) and was suprised to hear it, but I met a motorer this summer who said that they where like magnets on his MINI.

 

yeah i have some on mine and it has 34k on it

 

I have been using the mirror bra, with a CF look and works like a champ, they fit vetry snug too and you can take them off whenever you want, unlike the clear bra

 

I'm curious as to why you don't like the looks of the film on your mirrors, MiniSuperCooper.

I think of all the lines I have from the clearbra (bonnet, mirrors, door edges), I think the ones on the mirrors are the least noticeable. I can't even see them until I'm within 3 feet of them. Maybe it's because I have checkered mirror caps ??

 

I don't think the install is all that hot. There are more stretch marks on the mirror than the rest, so they seem more noticable. Plus it's wrinkled and coming up in some places. It doesn't look very good. I'm planning to get it reinstalled in the Spring. I'm just tired of messing with it right now. I just want to enjoy the MINI.

 

Gotchya. Yep, I don't blame you for being unhappy with the install after hearing all those problems.

 

I don't have any rock chips yet but I did get a bird yesterday.

 

They are bug targets though. MINI even came up with a game and bullzeyes for the caps.

 

If you autocross your car, the sticky front tires will throw rocks at your mirrors while cornering.
