I have had both first leatherette on my 2002 MCS which was soft and supple never looked bad at all.

Then real blk panther leather on my 2005 cabrio which IMHO is not soft or supple. It looks nice and I use Mcguires leather care bi-monthly. But it just is not as soft or cozy as the leatherette.

I suspect the heated seat feature and the fact my top is always down when I am driving as opposed to the hard top non heated seat and protection from the sun has something to do with it. It could just be the composition.

I liked the leatherette better but alas the leather looks cooler.

I am sure this confused you a bit.

i just picked up my DS/B with English panther leather and I am soooo pleased. They feel nice. Much better than the standard leather and they compliment the anthracite headliner and interior trim very well. I think that if I had ordered the standard leather, I wouldn't be so happy. Well worth the extra moolah. I will be hella busy tomorrow but if I get a chance I will take a photo.

My husband and my mom have leatherette in theirs and they look nice. They hold up better in convertible conditions too.

The loaner I have right now has the cordoba beige leather in it. It's a little softer and doesn't make the small of my back sweat as much, but it's not any more comfortable than the leatherette.

I've sat in the English leather seats and they are vehree nahhhsss! Nice and squishy!

Personally, I went the custom leather route from my dealership and I love them! They're really comfy too! Much squishier than the stock seats. I wanted the English leather (I was then going to custom dye them), but these weren't much more and exactly what I wanted.

Ahhh Leather...I can almost smell it!

Thanks for all the pictures......the piping is grey right? What does the backseat look like? I have an anthracite headliner and anthracite interior paint color so I am hopeful this would look great with that color setup.....PS ...I have a Dark Grey with body color roof coming....keep those pictures coming..

There was no doubt about it once we saw a MINI with this leather. It is my favorite part of the interior.

I will try to get some back seat shots soon.

no regrets about getting mine either. back seats match the front and yes the piping is a light grey.
this is really a picture of my hand brake that I recovered in leather you can see the edge of the seat and the piping in the foreground.
