For those with the driving lights....

Where's the switch to turn them on??? I know where it is if you have a parcel shelf, but if you don't I'm not sure if I have seen where it goes.

If they were dealer installed, it should be on the knee bolster panel to the left. Some techs may have found an alternate place to stick it, so if you still cant find it, talk to the guy that installed it.

Pull the knee bolster down and you will see a spot on the back side that they cut through for the switch. It'll be obvious

Also, there is a template on the last page of the install instructions to help with it's placement.

Yes it looks like this

Side view with modified blanking plate:

Installed in the modified blanking plate:

Switch part number is: 63 12 0 144 134

And I need to correct myself; the template is in the light kit and not in the instructions. I don't think it's needed but if so here is the part number: 01 29 0 147 414

I installed mine adjacent to the parking brake, directly opposite of the run flat reset monitors. There's an empty accessory switch cap you can use there...

Duck, if you're talking about the factory lights, come by my office and I'll show you exactly where it goes on the parcel shelf. On the regular bolster, it usually goes in almost the exact same place. You will have to cut a hole for it. I have my original bolster with the hole already cut, so if you're uncomfortable cutting into your car, I'd be willing to trade your unmolested one for mine that the dealership installed the hole in.

Forgive me for my MINI newb-ness but what is this bolster by the knee???? I am trying to see where the factory installed driving light switch is and not the aftermarket switches. I know where the switch would be for the Euro parcel shelf so that just leaves me asking again where the factory driving light switch is. I just need more clarification. Sorry guys!

Agro, I may have to take you up on your offer, but maybe I should see pics first! Sorry I haven't been to any meets. WIth marriage, honeymoon, deadlines, etc. the past month or so I haven't had time for anything....except for my lovely wife of course! LOL

I think this may be what you are after.

The switch for the factory driving lights is just below the air vent on the left of the steering wheel.

Wow....really? That's the factory location? Out in the middle of nowhere like that? Interesting.

Thanks for the pic! IF that is indeed factory, then you answered my question!

That's the spot, Do you see the gap between that panel and the steering wheel? Stick your hand in there and pull down towards the floor. The panel is hinged at the forward lower edge, so it will pivot more so then come down, but you will see the area that is "carved out" for the switch.

The "bolster" is the factory piece that the parcel shelf replaces. As for the location of the switch, mine was a bit further left and lower than that picture. Since there isn't actually a hole there, the dealership has to cut out a hole to install the switch, and thus the location can move around a bit. Let me know if you want to see mine and I'll throw it in the car.

Knock, knock, knock................... This thing on?

You guys need to look at the back of your bolsters. There is an area already molded into the panel for a switch, not our switch as has been pointed out many, many times, but a switch non the less. All the techs are doing on this side of the pond, is cutting out the last (outer) layer of the plastic.

Unmolested bolster panel:

Dealer trimed bolster panel:

As I said back in post #4
