Changing all the interior lighting to orange (to match the dash)?

Has anyone done this? I'd like to change my dome light and floor board lights to match the orange color of my dash. Anyone know if bulbs of matching color are available or a hi-temp paint I could use to paint the bulbs?

Peruse that thread. You can use amber LEDs.

Yes, I'd go with amber LED wedge bulbs and festoons from Autolumination.com. Note that several people have reported burn-out issues with the festoon LEDs (basically a 2-ended "bar" of LEDs that goes in your dome light). Replacing all your foot well, door sill and other lamps should run you about $70 give or take... I've never seen the amber LEDs in action, but they look closer to the cockpit lighting than the plain white incandescents, anyway...

Or MiketheMINI on MINI2.com has perfect matching LEDs if you want to shoot him a PM. He is out of the UK however.

What about a high-heat spray paint?

You can certainly try it... replacement 194 bulbs are only like $2 a pair art a hardware store, if the light gets cut down too drastically... the LED solution will actually be BRIGHTER though.

Even the Amber bulbs from autolumination are just that, amber. They are not orange. To many they might be close enough but to me I think an amber would look slightly off with the orange. I looked around for a true orange and not an amber but have yet to find it. If any of you find true orange bulbs I will be quite interested.

I finally did this today. I used a High Heat 1200 degree orange/red'ish color spray paint. I painted the two floor bulbs and the center dome. I left the map/spot lights white.

It looks really cool, I like it. It turned out a bit more red then orange but that's ok. It was inexpensive enough that if I need to buy more bulbs it's no big deal. Beats spending major coin on LEDs.

Use a tripod and a long exposure to get those dark pics. Then when the color is just not right, go into Photoshop and make it perfect..

And as for "Orange", perfect color....

Go Vols

Found a true Orange color this morning, the new blubs are in the tool shed drying right now. This will look much better then the red'ish orange I did first.
