I recently purchased an AB/AB and have been considering changing the top to black. Aesthetic Creations has a black out kit for the roof. Has anyone seen how well this looks? Is it smooth looking and is it solid black so fading will not be an issue? I've also thought about just getting it painted but I have yet to check into prices. Any thoughts on this?

My main thing is that I need a little help in deciding on a stripe color. My previous BRG had a black stripe which was very subtle yet noticeable enough to be nice looking. Here's a shot of it.



I'm going to go with the same style stripe but feel that black will not show at all. I've seen a white stripe on a Black MINI and it looked good. I'm considering white but can't think of any other colors that may do well. So give me some ideas. Here's my current MINI so maybe it'll help in deciding on a color. I've also thought of BRG since I still like that color but feel that wouldn't look very well.

 

Given any thought to a deep purple, and staying subtle? My SIL, years ago, had a '68 Camaro with beautiful but subtle purple flames -- one of those thing where, at the right angle, the right light, they just jumped right out at you with a big Wow effect.

 

I've always felt a nice red stripe on a JB or AB MINI would like nice. I've always wanted to try it on mine.

 

What about this one in a metallic or reflective silver

I'm not into subtle though so I may not be much help

 

I was packing up things and saw an old video. Thought about how AB looks blueish in the strong sunlight... Maybe Orange stripes and a meat ball with either 34 or 72 on it?

Changing the Astro Black top to Black just seems too minor and subtle to put much effort into.

I'll keep thinking about it and see if I can come up with any clever ideas to compliment the AB color. My immediate best guess would be a frost stripe since it sounds like you want something rather subtle.

 

That was my first thought as well.... Frost on Astro Black.
