The Birds wheel is just like the Mini one except they got rid of something and added another thing. Check it out at the Birds site...sory, don't have the link.

A few things to keep in mind....it is illegal to replace the steering wheel with one without an airbag unless you meet a certain critera which makes the airbag harmful to you - for instance if you are VERY short and have to sit EXTEREMELY close to the wheel. That being said I know people that do that and even looking at doing it myself. I know sparco has a universal hub that will fit the MINI with any Sparco wheel. Additionally I've looked at the possiblity of fitting a WRX Wheel as it is a MOMO wheel with the airbag and looks very good....just need to see if this is feasible.

The following post over at Roadfly has a picture of a sparco wheel fitted with the hub. http://forums.roadfly.org/mini/forum...720&page=6

I believe it is the MINI Mania rollcage - check their website for more info.

Yes, that wheel is pretty plain...but you can see what the hub looks like....any of the other sparco wheels will fit it fine...check them out at sparcousa.com

the air bag thing threw me for a loop (i don't even know how they work)
plus i'm sure there are warrantee issuses, even with an aftermarket wheel with a air bag
older cars are so much easier to deal with

Will the WRX wheel's airbag plug in without problem to the MINI's impact sensors? Also, the Subaru wheel is noticeably larger in diameter than the stock item, it could be like driving a bus.

I've driven several WRXs and never found the wheel to be too large....i find it very comfortable and very nice looking....I am not sure at all about the connections for the airbags...that needs to be investigated further...but like everything else....with enough money anything is possible ...though if it is expensive i'll just go the route with a sparco wheel.
