That'd be my guess.

You can see it in my graphic below.

Im pretty sure they are talking about the side lights . They are inside the turn indicator cluster under the headlights. They are on when you turn on the lights no matter what. Easy to install.

They will turn your light into a flashlight type beam. Similar to the new LED flashlights that use almost no power and last 100000 hours.

Here is a copy of an email from mini design in reference to the sidelights. They seem cool to me. I may spring for a set.

Dear Brad

These units are a twin led in a wedge connecter which directly replaces
your existing sidelight wedge bulbs.

The pictures cannot do justice to their appearance in half light or at
night.

They make your sidelights look almost like mini spotlights. The light
emmited is an extreme white identical to that from a xenon headlight
unit.

When used in conjunction with Silver Vision indicator bulbs which are
completely silver and only show orange when lit, they make the whole
unit
look completely silver. No sign that it is really a sidelight/indicator
housing.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Anyone think there might be any issues with the electrical system here? Might these be a significantly lower wattage? That's what's so great about LEDs, isn't it? Maybe there's another resistor built in. I'm interested, too.

mini-design.com's answer to my question:
"The bulbs are a wedge shape and replace the 'sidelight' bulbs. The
reduction in voltage has no effect on the cars electrical system and they
have TUV approval which may not I guess be relevant to you in the states."

They also sent me a picture of the bulb itself, but I don't have a way to post it, since it's just in my e-mail, not linked to anything. I can send it to someone if they'd like to see it or post it.

Ok, can someone explain where these lights are in very clear terms for morons like me?

Are they in the headlight housing, or down on the bumper? If down on the bumper, exactly where on the bumper?

A picture with an arrow would be even better...

In the bumper, under the headlight, above the fog light (if you have fog lights). In the same fixture which contains your front turn signal is a small white light bulb. Sometimes called a parking light or a marker light. You know how the turn signals look a bit like fried eggs? This is the white part of the egg.

scooterboy - yes; the half of that housing toward the bumper contains the blinking turn signal. The haldf of it toward the center of the car contains what mini-design has chosen to call the "side light".

CooperSpeed - thanks, I'm e-mailing you that photo.

I'd be very interested in a set. Sounds like they're just a straight swap. Keep us posted if you get them, and of course we'll need pics If they put out more light than what's already there, I'd love a pair. How much in US $ w/ the shipping charge?

I just installed a pair of these LED lights last night. I can report that everything Jon from mini-design said is true. It is a one minute install, although they only work one way. You might have to pull it out and rotate it 180 degrees and reinsert. The light it emits is very white, a silver-white, which looks much better that the original bulb's yellowish output. It looks very good with the Xenon HID lowbeam headlights. I had been using PIAA Xtreme White wedge bulbs in my marker lights to compliment the Xenons. They were pretty good, much better than stock, but not as good as these LEDs. The Xtreme White bulbs themselves are tinted blue, and that shows through the lens when the lights are not turned on. The LEDs are not blue, eliminating that issue, and their light output looks closer to the Xenon. But if you get the impression they are like adding some extra driving lights, they aren't really that bright at all. They are still just marker lights. There is this difference too, the LEDs are more of a spot of bright white light shining through the lens, as opposed to the normal wedge bulb which lights up the whole area inside (or behind) the lens.

I recently saw a Honda driving around with the side indicators on all the time. These would flash brighter when they actually signaled. I thought this was strange since most were always off. I assumed that the poor kid had screwed up his wiring! Are they using the same/similar product in their side indicators? Why would you want them to be always on? Secret boy racer "handshake"?

Well, I thought I knew what I was talking about, but looking at CooperSpeed's sig picture, I must have this backwards (or sidewards).

DeMinimus, thanks for the write-up. So, do these make the regular (non-xenon) headlights look yellowish and weak, or is it a good complement?
