Interior/Exterior boot stripes...
boot stripes...
ok, i will be getting boot stripes in the mail here in the next few days. problem: im putting them on myself and i noticed that they will go directly over the cooper-s logo. im not going to cut around each letter.. by anymeans.. is there a way to simply "pop" that off and just replace it. if so, how? i can pop it off and stripe over it, but i have kinda grown attached to the logo.. any suggestions??

...And I decided to put the badge over the stripes. Get a piece of fishing line or dental floss to "saw" through the double sided tape holding the letters on, clean up the residue, and replace with a new stock MINI badge. Be sure to mark the placement with a grease pencil.

My opinion is replacing the badge over the stripe looks like it came from the factory that way. Cutting around it looks aftermarket. My 0.02.

I was looking for a photo of the badge over the stripe like this one to post with my photo for contrast. This set of stripes looks a bit wider than factor. I think they look great.

...Or you could just leave the S. I used the hair dryer, dental floss technique to get the badge off and it was no problem.

Yeah.. im not really sure which one i like the best, they all look great! i do, however, think ill go stripe under letters. mini monkeys is pretty cool looking. my coop is dark silver and the stripes will be black. ill also have the chrome license plate insert there as well. do you think it will look ok? the letters are just glued on? so i can just heat it up and take some floss and remove them?? will the heat affect the paint? is there any glue out there i can use to replace them? by the way.. POIMAN..the plain S looks f'ing sweet! but i would feel bad copying the same creative idea.
I have the new "U" shaped stripes and Im trying to find out if any one has done something similar to the boot. I want the same design but want to get the opinions of this board to find out if it looks good.
ive never seen any pics of the boot stripes for that config yet, not sure what to suggest. may look weird if you get that same stripe and do it on the boot, u at the bumbers edge and shooting up. or just cut off the stripes (or get some that same diameter) and do what the others have done on theirs. prolly the later is the way to go. ??
What's that latch thing at the bottom of the stripe?

There are pictures in my gallery of both our MINIs with boot stripes. The badges came off very easy so we decided to order new ones and put them on top of the stripes.

I really like the way you did your cut out it is more symetrical than mine ..
I am re doing mine next week. and if I don't have any weird fading or marks, I plan on redoing it this way.
How much $ are the replacements ???
Anyone want to give / sell / barter / trade their take off badges

haha, nice job.. paint is always the way to go. well, i like it, but its kinda borderline. not sure exactly how i feel about it. the nice thing is is that yours would definately be unique. im sure you would get used to it and love it once you achieved the right look. my only worry is that.. well before i go that route.. are you doing it yourself?? i Just did my hood stripes myself and it was hard enough to get it so that no wrinkles or bubbles appear. anyway.. haha.. my only worry is that when you are doing the back, it is going to be extremely difficult (i would imagine) to get it right. the indentation by the rear plate would pose quite a problem with this. however. i just ordered a chrome insert for that whole indentation area im talking about.. http://outmotoring.com/mini_cooper_c...te_insert.html
if you put this on, it would be alot easier to do this, but you would also lose alot of the U effect that you are looking for. well,, haha. i guess i am no help. anything you do, you will love. if not, take it off.

Here's a cleaner version. I think I like it better. But Im thinking I might go away from the "U" design and just get a silver decal for the license plate area. What Im really trying to do Is liven up the boot a bit.
I like the first pic alot better. if you want to have something around your plate, that link i sent you is the way to go. i ran into the same problem tho, liven up the boot.. there are so many mods for the front.. grill, scoop, fog lights, etc. leaving the boot plain. go for the U and see what happens.. cant hurt.
just installed bonnet/boot stripes
Just installed my stripes this week - black w/ white border on Astro Black.
It was my first time doing anything like this and they didn't come out perfect (so don't point out the flaws like the left rear stripe doesn't quite line up) but i thought they came out real nice.
