Mini Sunroof Sunshades

Somebody posted this link a few years ago. Just wondering if anyone has these shades and how well they work for you. Summer is around the corner and the tint, that I did last year, on the Sunroof/Moonroof of the MINI S is not enough.

That looks like it would really do the job.

My COOPER S cap works too and won't void the warrenty, so I'm told.

I was planning to cover some cardboard in tin foil and let it rest on the screen

I have them and they do work well. They fit very tightly into the openings and totally block the light; the material is both insulating and reflective and really does the job. They are on the spendy side but do work - car was much cooler last summer with those in (I pretty much us the rear one all of the time too)

It looks like the same material as my Touareg's sunshade. It gets 120 degrees here in Phoenix and this this blocks the heat out like no tomorrow!

Got 'em. No way I would run without them here in the summer of Arizona. Worth every penny. Very high quality. Gonna buy ones for our new GTI when it shows up.

?? I'd get the sunroof covers no matter what the seats are, the air in the car gets superheated in the summer on top of all the interior surfaces. Helps prevent fading and greatly reduce the offgassing from the plastics that happens in the heat too.

I thought about tinting the roof glass but decided against it since I really enjoy looking through it at times it isn't open and the added light in dark weather or at night with the moon glowing through is a nice benefit

Yeah, not a bad thing vs nothing but the insulating/reflective quality of the other stuff works extra well. I use a flexi type for the windshield and its okay but if I wanted it to cut heat much better I'd get the other material for that use as well - for now though I don't want to carry around such a big piece of the thicker material.

it would be nice if there was a permanent opaque shade that you could open and close as needed, but still be able to use the mesh shade as needed

Here is a really great sunroof shade that I found for my Mini...

I just got it today for Christmas. It's made by Zippee Shade, and it fits very nicely in both of my sunroofs. Personally I think this accessory is awesome, kudo ZippeeGear.com. If anyone is interested, please check them out, here is a link: http://zippeegear.com/documents/home.html

I use a black cling vinyl I bought from Adorama Camera- used for darkrooms. It clings to the glass and blocks 100% of light. It is a bit of a pain to apply(mine stays on all year long) but peels off when you need it to.

That is a great price, but does it have to have that logo on it for everyone to see?

When mine arrives, i'll look at it. I bet I can get it off with a little bit of acetone. (same stuff i used to remove the warning stickers from my sun visors)

I used rubbing alchohol to remove mine, but there is still barely a shape of the old sticker that is visible in the right light. Did the acetone take it all off?

there are no traces of the sticker on mine. i left the acetone on for probably a bit longer than i should have. the fabric of the visors actually loosened and wrinkled real bad. I thought i ruined the visors but I took my clothes steamer to it, and the fabric instantly started to shrink back to its original size. I just smoothed it out with my hand as the steam shrank it.....who knows, but it worked.
