Either Moss Mini or Mini Mania (or somebody) offers a chrome roof piece that covers the whole roof with highly polished chrome.

I like the idea of chrome because you could blind all the people in escalades, navigators and hummers as you go whizzing past them. But on the downside you would be blinding commercial drivers in semis and buses too, and that would be less fun.
Actually I am not a fan of chrome, so I would say if you like black go back to it, if you want a change, matching body color looks very nice too. Not sure what other colors would look good on yours. Maybe do a GP rip off and paint the roof red and do matching red mirrors. Red adds HP right?

With the cost and opportunity I would definately favor getting a non-stock color to make the car unique. Perhaps someone with PS could play with some colors a complimentary graphics - perhaps a dark metallic blue? DS and a rich red go well together too but I have a feeling that would be too much for you. Its worth playing with anyway - if you want to stick with the OEM look at least get the roof in a metallic black
