Side sun visor for passenger side?

Did a quick search and did not find any posts on this: Has anyone removed the passenger roof handle and installed a side sun visor? Any reason it could not be done?

I was just thinking the same thing myself yesterday, The pice looks symetrycal, I'll have to check the gap between the holes to make sure it wouldn't leave any gaps in the headliner, but it does raise one interesting question, what happens when I go around a corner quickly w/ a passenger?

My wife would never let me remove the passenger side grip. She needs it to hang onto when I drive sideways.

Why would the driver want one? I don't want to be in car and hear the driver go oh SH** and take their hands off the wheel. I find the side visor useful, and the front useles.

Let's not forget that MINI's are made in a country where they drive on the wrong side of the road! If it's not symmetrical (I bet it is), but if it's not; the RHD ones will have one that'll fit.

The two are interchangeable. I am getting rid of the visor on the drivers side--actually already did--and I'm waiting for the handle to arrive--cost me less than 4 dollars from one of the NAM vendors. Couldn't stand that visor--it's useless for me, and it squeaked--not loud, but it was right in my ear. I'll take the handle any day.....

i used my sunvisor on the drivers side for sunglasses, you can fit 4 pair on it.

if i had to do it again, id probably add the ohsh*t handle over the sunvisor. simply for the look, since the sunvisor never got used in the first place.

now that i have an 04, i dont have either of these problems!

My wife WANTS me to remove the passenger side grip. She keeps bumping her head on it. I just ordered a side visor to replace the grip. (about $40.) Besides, if I were to drive sideways with her in the car, she'd never get in again and we'd be going places in the Rav4 instead of the MINI.

Hey Johnna,

Where did you get the visor from and what was the part number.

My wife wants this to be the first mod. We just ordered our MINI
today.

I got the visor from my dealer (Schomp in Denver). I didn't keep the receipt so I don't have the part number. Sorry.

I contacted Classic MINI's parts department awhile back and they said they would need the VIN # to figure out the correct parts for adding it the visor to the passanger side - that is why I started this thread.

Johnna,
Did it seem like they had different options for different years? Please make sure to let us know how it went installing it.

When I talked to the parts guy at Schomp, we didn't get into options for different years. I just told him I had an '05 MCS. No request for VIN # (maybe my car's already in their computer system) The only option was color, light gray or anthracite.

Installation was very simple. Pop the endcaps on the grab handle and remove two screws. Install sunvisor with two screws in the same holes.

I hope that helps.

John

I forget if I read about this on MINI2 or NAM but this has been done. The screwholes are the same for the 2 parts and is a super easy install.
