Seat heater to hot or cold?

I was just searching around and found this in my bulletins.

Its a fix for people complaints on there seat heater being to hot or not hot enough.

All that is needed to do the job is a cable lead which you put in the middle of the connector under your seat to the heating element

61-10-0-152-025 is to reduce the heat

61-10-0-152-026 is to increase the heat.

Now if your car is still under warranty, you can go in a complain about this and they will fix it for you at no charge

Does it send extra power to the seat or something? I wouldn't mind a little bit more heat, its too cold here! (-20C in the winter, eek)

Last time I checked there are 4 connectors under the seat and they're all connected to things already.

Its a white wire under your seat. i wanna say it has a resistor in it which manages the voltage going into the unit.

Funny. I was at Prestige last year and mentioned to the tech that my seat was not hot enough for me. He said "Yeah, all you need is this cable...." as he held it up.....and then the service manage Bill interrupted and said "No, there's nothing you can do to change the heat settings".

Boy I'm glad you posted this. I can turn mine on (even at the low setting), count to 60 and have to turn it off. Drives me out of the car it gets so HOT! The loaner convertible they gave me when I got my top replaced was just fine - worked like I thought it should, but didn't realize there was a fix to the one in "Sam".

1FSTMINI,

Thanks for the information. I presume that the numbers you listed above are part numbers. Can you give us a reference number for the service bulletin, so that I can refer service people to it when they claim to know nothing about it?

Came across the PDF and wanted to post it here for future references. I know its cold outside and people have wanted to raise and lower the factory heated seats. Or add them , they have the ability to raise or lower it.

For people that have factory heated seats or the retrofit kit installed.

Here is the SI M 610104 if anyone needs it attached.

Adapter Wire For Cooler Seat - Priced Each Part # 61100152025

&

Adapter Wire For Warmer Seat - Priced Each Part # 61100152026

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/61100152026/

And here is the retrofit kit for people that don't have the heated seats.

MINI gave most seats the heating element / plug pre-installed 12/2001- . Its was in and out with the seat productions. But its good to check:
Note : You will have to check under your MINI seats ( passenger and driver towards the front under the bottom cushion) to see if the extra seat plug/ empty plug socket is there for this upgrade to work.

Part number 61110145996 is the full kit:

And here is some more info about the heated seats and the retrofit install.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-retrofit.html

Thanks and hope that helps.

My driver seat gets and stays much hotter on both settings compared to the passenger seat.
I got the adapter for cooler seat and it didn't really help.
I suspect there's a open circuit from the thermosensor in the seat somewhere, but I haven't tried to chase it down yet.

Look at page ELE-118 on the Bentley wiring diagrams.
The E57 block shows both a heating element and a
variable resistor in the seat heating schematic.
