Interior/Exterior Eye lids - possible?

Eye lids - possible?
Hey there guys, i have tried searching a thread containing info on this subject and failed miserably.. Either that or the topic is too ridiculous to even mention..
N e way, does n e one know whether it is possible to get black eye lids that dont block out the xenon (or standard) lighting?
I was thinking other possibilities such as magnetic eye lids? or some kind of material where it goes dark under sunlight and clear at night (like some glasses/sunnies).
comments?

Hrmm well the problem with vinyl is that it only lets light transmission of 30% i think? so that kinda defeats the purpose of xenon lights.. but ill check it out n e way! just for test purposes ill get some vinyl and cut out the shape and test to see just how bad the light transmission is..
ill keep u guys posted

OK, I gotta ask. I admit that I'm an old fart, but I don't understand why put eyelids on a MINI. On an SRT4 or some of the VWs it makes some design sense. There's a design line of the hood that cuts across the headlight and the eyelid completes that line and makes the shapes flow smoothly. But there's no such line or shape on a MINI, so eyelids just create an entirely arbitrary mask across the top of the headlight. It doesn't make any design sense, and it surely doesn't make any functional sense at all.
So what's the deal here?
BTW, I also never understood the chrome half-lids that folks were putting on their hotrods in the sixties either.

Who knows....some people might like the look. I dont get it on MINI's either...but i think that SOME people could pull it off on their cars if done right. But they do seem better fit for SRT's and especially VW's who cant afford boser hoods

Funny I just was talking to guys at Bon Racing in Japan. Latest on these eye lids. They made these as proto type but could not make the chrome stick so they dropped it. They had carbon ones made as well but never made it to production. they make the CF rim cover that I am bringing home. I really wanted the CF eye lids and I was going to pay for the proto ones but they destroyed them already......

New Beetle Eyelids
I am not sure if they're the same size and shape, but I know I've seen many types of eyelids available for the VW New Beetle.
Could these also work on a MINI?
Here's a link to just one of the many kinds available for the Beetle...

My first try using CF vinyl. I only taped it on to test the fit and allow for triming. But you can get the idea of the general design. I am struggling with how big to make them. I don't want to sacrafice the amount of light my headlights produce for a look.
I have some CF with glue on the back coming in any day now to make a good set.
