Spray tint! And I masked around the glass, I was trying to get them off completley but they have 2screw up top wich you can get too if you just pop the hood, but there is one in the bottom as well, I'm guessing you need to take off the bumper to get to that one. The result was, looks great when light is off and looks ok when on, I'm not very satisified so I will take off the bumper sometime in the future and respray it better, but it's easy to do!

Looks good, would it work on the tail lights? kind of stupid question, but I can not find anything for the 05 yet

Yeah, I've done the tails as well! I'm going for the black look so. Here is a photochop, how it hopefully will look next summer, the wheels are probably the biggest issue but they're still good as is.

Here is my ***.

I had that egg yolk look so instead of buying new bulbs I went black, as the whole car is going to follow that theme.

How about visibility? Does it kill the lights?

It doesn't affect the parking / indicators nearly as much as the rear, they don't shine like they did without the tint(duh), but you will still see them, no problem!

I didn't tint my 3rd brakelight either so you'll definantley see when I brake.

Grill is a great mod, but don't forget the belt line!

Here what I have so far..

I actually have an 05 but I changed the tails to 04 because of the tint. I wanted the reverse light to be visible. I had a professional paint them.. I suck at it.

no no no....think about the styling for a second. Doing the belt line would ruin his car in my opinion. It plays off the lip of the wheels SO well. Don't forget....everything can be overdone so make sure to do them right.

You should technically wet sand them first... very throroughly. Then you spray until you get the desired darkness, and then clean it up with a clear coat for a proffesional look (be sure to not use lacquer clear coat with nightshades tint.....its a no no) . And follow up with another wet sand if there is any orange peel on the finish. Then you can nicely buff it to a gloss finish instead of the smokey dull finish without clear coat.

I have seen them where they were just sprayed, and like you said, they look dull/smokey and are obviously just spray painted. If you want quality that looks OEM and stylish, you should really do all the work correctly.

Check out this page on tinting tail lights. You can learn a lot from it

fj0,

Your shoots always look good. I am trying to find some good areas around me to get some good mini shots. I need to get some photos added of the car to my picture collection. But back on topic, what is this paint made out of? Was applying it easy? Any runs or trouble getting it to cover correctly? Can you see the lights perfectly when they are on? i.e. the colors show correctly?

Thanks!

I've already done it before on my tails so I guess I knew how to use it better this time, it takes a while to apply, the tint doesn't show that much, so if you want really you can just tint it a little bit, so it looks "smokey", if you're patient and take it easy it won't run, but I really recommend that if you're going to do this, get them off the bumper! As I said they look great off but I'm not satisfied with the look when they are on, the colors shine through great! But you can see that they've run on mine, I'll redo them when I have time to get the bumper off, maybe when I get the grill done.

I'm leaving the beltline chrome! As RallyMINI said I think it complements my lip on my rims. And it really squares off the car, bottom and top.

I was going to change the grill on my 05 Jet Black MCS and when I got the black sub zeros with polished lip, all my friends said the same exact thing. Leave the stock grill on as it looks great with the polished lip on the rims.

How is it going with your Rota's Garrett? Have you gotten them on yet? Any pics?
