Anyone have bonnet stripes painted on?

Has anyone had their car repainted with stripes rather than applying vinyl ones?

There are a couple of people who have their whole carbon fibre hood painted except where the stripes would have been making it look like carbon stripes.

I think GBMINI (Ian Cull) has painted stripes to go along with his roof graphic.

I was just thinking it might be worth it to get them painted since I've heard of problems when waxing and what not and wouldn't want the vinyl to peel etcetera.

Mine are painted bonnet and boot for just that reason. I have also heard of baked on bug, staining the vinyl. Be prepared 500.00 to 1000.00 for a top of the line job. Depending on amount of stripes.

I got rid of my viper stripers just because they were high maintenance, bugs, waxing...etc. On the other side, in my case, i find it suicidal to paint it on the car, because if i get tired of them, i would have to paint the whole car

Forgive me, I don't mean to be mean or anything, but couldn't you have like 10 sets of bonnet stripes installed for about $1000? You could get a new set every year for that price.

I'm not a long term owner (had my car for 6 months), but with several coats of Zaino, I have had zero problems with baked on bug and tree sap staining the vinyl. I usually wash my car every two weeks or so, but then I don't let bird crap or anything like that sit on the car (or the vinyl) for that long.

I agree with the above poster. Vinyl will let you change them out for a new design if you get tired of the same one in the future. With paint, you're stuck. Plus the more elaborate designs would quickly add lots of $$$ to a paint job, but vinyl is pretty much the same price I think.

how hard is it to remove the vinyl?

ariercetinberk: did the vinyl leave marks on the paint from fading and whatnot?
