Carbon Fiber Look Mirror Caps

Yup I'm Cheap!! I cannot see spending a couple hundred dollars for mirror caps that are carbon fiber. I don't care if they shave off an ounce on my car. They stick on using tape overtop of your existing mirror caps. Once I install them I plan to take pics of how they look. Whether or not they look totally fake remains to be seen till there installed. So anyways I was looking on Ebay one day and found a guy selling these cheap mirror Caps. About $20 plus shipping, so $30 shipped(via UPS ground). So I figured what the hey for $30 I'll try them. Well my crappy pics don't help but there very nice.

There made of plastic and some how have a Carbon Fiber pattern on them. I have not put them on the car yet as I wanted to post about them first.

Here is the Ebay link They seem to be selling quickly.

The kit you purchase includes:

2 Mirror Caps
2 cotton pads
Some sticky string and instructions

Here is the out of focus my crappy digital cam took of the Carbon Fiber pattern:

And here is a pic of the adhesive inside the cap:

Nice quick install. Wiped the places where the tape was to adhere on the mirror and installed via the instructions.

I have included several pics of the product installed. The only gripe that I have is it has the manufacture's sticker on the top of the caps. I may remove them as they are just stickers. All and all they fit perfectly and look very good to me

In this pic you can see the manufacture's sticker.

Oh and I also installed my Motor Swag Dragon Eyes today:

doesnt look too bad, it would be nicer if it was a full cover replacement. but as long as the dover underneat isnt visible, its a nice looking piece of fake CF!

For the price you can't beat them. But yes I wonder how they will deal with the summer sun and the elements. Only time will tell.

Looks like you made a good purchase. My only concern would be how well the finish stands up to buffeting. The only two areas on my car that show any wear is the front nose and the mirror housings.

I agree you remove the manufacturers name tag

What is the "sticky string" used for?

It says it is used when you have a white mirror. You place it along the edge of the mirror cap so that it looks more like the cap was there all along.

Fake CF looks nice. I have a set of APG checker board mirror caps on one of my cars. Nice product.

BTW...spelling lesson. I believe the word you want is "they're" not "there".

ripley.

If you need the real thing BFP a NAM Vendor makes the real thing with fabulous quality. While it is a 'cap' it is real CF and maintains the the original form of the rear view mirrors. Check it out

We don't need to pay $299 for the real thing when the look-alike cost 1/10th of the real thing I have had several compliments on what people think is carbon fiber

I used to hang out with a few local tuner clubs... and got a kick out of HOW MANY people used fake CF. But they went overboard gaudy with it.

Yours look fine, but after seeing all the fake stuff locally, i'd much rather save up for the real stuff, personally. But to each his own
