Just wanted to check - before I start plotting. To change the tailights on my '06 to a set of taillights touted for 02-04 (some sets of clear taillights off ebay) is it really as easy as taking the old lights off and getting a pair of '04 bulb holders to add on. I read rednwhitecooper's tutorial on putting in 02-04 clear taillights on his (or her) '05 and it seemed really easy - too easy!!! just wanted to check before I buy. I changed to clear side indicators this week and I LOVE the way it looks - I am trying to make my cooper black/white only (well as close as I can get).

Thanks and everyone have a Happy new Year!

Yes it is. Ive installed 2 sets of these lights so far and on an 05-06 car, they work perfectly each time!

You need the following parts to complete the swap:

-Taillights(Clear, off ebay)
-Bulb holders for an 02-04 (PN 63216916395) you will need 2 (two) of them
-LED or Red Taillight bulbs.

And you will be good to go!

Thanks for the re-assurance. I'm going to do it. I found good pricing on my future driving lights (PIAA 510's) so this all fits within my original driving light budget. Yeah!!!

You rawk! (rawk means you are extra cool) I'll put my orders in for the supplies this week, and I'll let you know if I have any problems - like I said before it just seems too easy! Thanks for the help offer!!!

I love NAM and all the help I get! Can't wait to meet people at the Dragon this year.

I put these on 2 months after delivery. The picture doesn't do it justice. They are the same lights featured on Motoringfile. The indicator blinks yellow but the lens is white. I think it goes better with the white CooperS side indicator than the all red stock lights. I prefer a yellow turn blinker for the safety factor.

I've seen tint film for the tailligts for sale. Is there a potential legal problem using the tint on the taillights?

Thanks!

I definitely have to agree with ravenfish. I put those on about a month ago and they look great. It took only 15 minutes to install.

minibot- Miles looks great with the euro lights.

The install was very easy has the same assembly as the stock lights.
They are OEM in europe.
I got mine from newministuff.com
If you're not into the white lens but, want yellow indicators they have them with a yellow lens too.

DarkMiniCooperS - Where did you get those? They are very cool! But I don't think they will work with my '06. If the white lens is the turn signal, where are the reverse lights?

Sorry for the long delay LOL

On 2002-2004 MINI, the tail lights are differents from 2005+.

The reverse light is on the bumper.

But I know similar tail lights are available for 2005+ models. If I find it again, I'll sure post it!

they are made by APC They come in black, gray, and Faux carbon fiber. Check out E-bay for them they are usually on the site. But these will only work with models before 05 and cars which don't have the tail light mod or fog lights. The upper most "light" is actully only a reflector.

Crap, only pre-'05 model, ay? Is there anything that looks like this that's compatible with '06s?

I swear I saw these lights with the top light as a light. Are these APC ones the only ones around that look like this? I also say them in "titanium" as the color.

Ebay has the European OEM lights with the clear blinker lens. I don't know who makes them but they are only like 70 bucks shipped. Good deal. I think I'm going to get them too.

I got them, they are great quality.

Worth the money. also, invest in a nice set of silverstar turn signal bulbs.
