ok, i dropped 70 bucks on a set of lights off ebay, some off brand white lights.

i have one question. what bulbs are used in the white lights to make them glow red and amber?

are they red and amber LED bulbs that appear white when off? are there special bulbs that MINI sells that are standard globe bulbs that glow red and amber when on, but clear or chrome when off?

they should be here tuesday or so.

also, does anyone have a picture of the backside of a white aero tail light?

id appreciate it if someone could pop one out and snap a pic for me!

just got them in today, they look awesome!

i need to run to MINI tomarrow to buy the 04 light bulb carrier, my 05's are nowhere near the 04 since the 05's have the reverse light in the light.

tomarrow i'll get my new bulbs, new carriers, and rewire up my bumper reverse light.

i'll pst pics when its all done, ive got new aero grille pics too!

Black taillights
Here are the Ultrik tails I got from edworthys in the UK.

They are very similar to SpiderX's, but for the 2004/5 chassis.

Personally I am diggin em! They got many thumbs up at my Mini dealership when I crused down there today.

For what it's worth, try to find a US distributor - shipping from the UK can cost nearly as much as the parts. I had a business colleague hand-carry them back.

you dont have to have an 05 tail light to work on your 05! ive got 04 aero lights with the reverse light in the bumper, its the same wiring!

its a simple swap, i'll post a DIY if theres enuff interest....

well i wanted it to look like a 05 and not have to rearrange the lights (ie put the back up where the turn signal is, and move the turn signal to the upper part where the 02-04 foglights would be) i wanted it to keep the 05 style

they are awesome!

to answer the clear light question, polarg makes the b1 hybrid visual style bulbs that will fit, they are legal, when off they are a chromatic look, but is availiable in red and amber when lit

I found them on this site a while ago:
http://www.yang-chan.net/MINI/

I think these are the same ones here, under lighting:
http://www.coopertuning.de/shop_n/index.php

Expensive at US$ 482.61. Most likely that's minus S/H (from Germany I suspect). And you would still need to get them painted to match your body color. A small price to pay for individuality....

AC, those are my dream lights...a friend of mine has a similar style on his Civic. The only thing stopping me is re-doing the wiring to fit them on my 05 model.....great lights!!
