Liner for rear of MINI with folded down seats

I thought I saw a product that was a fitted blanket/tarp for the back of a MINI with the seats folded down. Its use is to protect the interior when carrying things in back. Now I can't find it on the vendors' sites. Can anyone direct me to the vendor? Thanks.

MINI usa actually sells this - if we are talking about the same thing.

It is in two parts - one is the rubber boot mat and the other is an extension where one end slips under the boot mat and the other covers the back of the seats.

I don't know if this is what you were asking about but I got mine through my dealer.

I don't think so but it sounds interesting. Did you see a picture of it before you bought it? Where? Do you have the parts numbers?

I have the rubber thing that goes over the rear seats when down... i think it is called a rear mat extension... it works pretty well.... I made a bunch of trips to Goodwill this weekend so it helped there....one problem and my dog has made several comments about this (by comments I mean face plants on the window or back of my head)... it is a bit slippery, with the dog in the back I put a blanket down to stop the slipping and protect the rear bumper when he jumps.

I have the boot mat extension as it is called and am willing to sell it. When I bought it I thought it would stay on the back of the seats even when folded up but it does not. The area where the latches are is covered so it can't connect.

I bought it from Classic MINI and would be willing to sell it for $50 + actual shipping. From classic it's $60 + shipping. I have yet to use it but do plan to use it once in the next couple weeks when I move.

Let me know if you would be interested. It's a good product, it just wasn't what I expected.

Rear Mat

Helix has a rear mat pkg that covers the whole area. It's a pkg. for auto-x from RDR. Covers back of frt.seats and top of rear bumper. Check it out at Helix website.

There are a few different products:

A quick search through the NAM Vendors found these for the seats while they're up:

But (as newbs49 points out) this Cargo/Dog Liner from Helix (part way down page) is what I guess you must have been thinking of:

Hope that helps!

Does that Helix one actually protect the back of the front seats?

The Helix one does protect the back of the front seats. It has straps with grommets that you put on the posts of the headrests.

Here is the description from the Helix website:

For those of us that love autocross and track events, there is one problem with the trunk space: It gets easily beaten up by wheels, tires, jacks and tools. Well that's the thing of the past thanks to the Bag Lady. Hauling cargo or your furry friends is a snap with this liner, custom made to fit your MINI. It features Velcro on the bottom to secure it in place and straps that neatly fasten to the front seat headrests. An extra flap of material extends over the rear bumper to prevent scratches. That same flap doubles as a storage bag. Fold the entire liner up into the bag to store it when not in use. Liner is made of sturdy cotton duck fabric with a layer of batting in between for some padding.
BTW, it's $120. I use it for track days myself, really like it.

Picture of Mini trunk area cover

Here it is from the Italian accessory catalog. (small version)

Their web is www.mini.it but I couldn't pull up the accessories this time.

It's much easier to find in the UK catalog (I certainly can't read Italian!) here:

It is also priced cheaper than the 159 euro at 87.95GBP (= $167.96) - of course that excludes shipping. (Still looks like a good deal from Helix at $120!)

There is also a different one available for the back seat while up:

This one lists for significantly more at 120GBP ( = $229).

Hope this helps.

That would mean that you could not use this with tinted windows as it would pull off the film.

Matt, I have the boot mat extension and for the roadtrip, it's fine, since I'm keeping my backseats down the whole time. As soon as I get home, though, I'm going over to OctaneGuy's to use his modified mat extension as a template. He made a few trims, here and there, and now it is truly fully-functional.

FYI, I actually ordered the OEM "protective boot cover" from my dealer on Wednesday. This is the same one pictured on top in Mini2Go's post above. I'll post on feedback once I get it.

Interesting note about this though - it is featured on the last page of the 2004 MINI Motoring Accessories catalog, but they did not include it in the 2005 catalog. I wonder why?

For those who care - the part number is 51 47 0 140 121. Price listed in the catalog is $186.

Well, I seriously doubt that it would pull the film off that easily. If it was tugging at an edge repeatedly it might start to lift up - but for a few days at a time, away from the edges - I doubt it would pull it off.

Just think how much surface tension there is between a piece of saran wrap and flat glass with a layer of moisture in between - sure you can pull it off - but now fix all the edges and make it so you can't "pinch" the plastic to slide it off. The adhesive on the tint has got to be even stronger than that. Over an extended period of time the adhesive may become brittle and the tension might pull it loose - maybe.

Also, over extended periods of time it might somehow cause a different UV fade rate - leaving little circles of a different shade.

...but I'm not an expert; just making some observations. Proceed at your own risk.

Does the Helix cover protect the sides of the panels below the windows at all? I can't quite make it out on their site.

Have you gotten it yet? How does it fit? How do you like it?
