LCD gauge panel for center console...
Hi all -
I have been researching the aux gague topic for awhile now. I came across this cool little LCD display which can display the readings from multiple sensors on one square LCD display. It's small enough to mount in the center console in a 1.5DIN space. This is a marine electrical product but it's made to attach to ordinary automotive sensors.
They have a two-line and 4-line LCD display with up to 8to10 gauge readings. This would be a cool way to monitor oil press/temp, water temp, EGT, and whatever else you want. Apparently the things are completely customizeable via a serial port interface.
From the vendor's website:
Digital Instrumentation
* 10 function digital gauge with alarms
* User defined gauge labels and graphics display options
* Bluetooth wireless data transmission option
* Remote data logging and viewing on PC/PDA
* Sealed water resistant design
* Customizable sensor calibration tables match any sender
* NMEA 0183 input/output accepts GPS/SONAR data
* 24X2 or 24x4 character display
* Product Brief ->
SeaGauge is a multi-function digital marine gauge that replaces mechanical instruments and gauges in marine and boat electronics applications. Now get digital instrumentation display of a variety of boat performance parameters such as TACHOMETER, RPM, OIL PRESSURE, ENGINE TEMPERATURE, FUEL LEVEL, VOLTMETER, MAIN and AUXILIARY BATTERY, and much more all in a compact sealed design. SeaGauge-X4 will replace existing instruments and gauges on most inboard and outboard boats without having to rewire or replace sensors. Uses Bluetooth technology and NMEA 0183 formats to transmit gauge readings to laptops and PDA's.
I spoke with this vendor about color choices and its possible to get a red LCD at nominal cost. The high-end model is a high-res screen with a pure white-on-black display, over which you put a translucent colored plastic sheet to match any color you want.
Pretty cool. Starting around $300 for the LCD model. You can buy them on ebay. Info at the link below:

I do NOT work for this company; I just found the product. No I have not installed it [yet] but I am planning my little project now ...

I like information from the motor as well, but that looks like something off of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car. A bit too much for me. I'd like to figure out how to put in a Motec dash.

RE: Defi VSD
Yup, its nifty, but it's color is blue and not adjustable. Also their website states it cannot display boost informaton [?]. I have not researched it further, I may be incorrect. Disclaimer here, etc.

Yea, motor-on, i've been following what you've been doing on your gauges...good work. Hopefully sometime, someone will start making some in different colors. They'd sell like crazy here.
By the way, has anyone installed any gauges having to do with weather, etc.? Barometer, compass, altimeter, anything like that?

I LIKE DEFI.
I like very simple interior.
I hate flashing light interior and audio.
they make me irritating.
http://www.defi-shop.com/product/din/din_top.html
I am planning to remove audio and install this.
This is the best I think.
Right now I am using Omori meter. Omori is good as well but they do not match the illumination color.

Do the Craven Speed dual pods now come with brackets for Nav or is that custom work?

The Flex Pods are Deisigned to fit the NAV situation
.
In my case though I did a modification to the bracket that is too the set on the right .Craven does not make a bracket that allows you to have a left and right setup with the pods on top .I just Dremelled off the posts and bolted/screwed them to the reverse side of the plate .
Although the pod sets are a little on the pricey side they do allow for some variations which I liked .I will be moving ,I think the Spa Gauge down lower The position as it stands makes the visual effect of the black numbers look faded somewhat
"Heads up" The Cyberdyne Gauges fitted the pods no trouble .The single Spa Dual Gauge needed a slight reeming out of the Diam. on the pod.
2 1/16th= not quite 52mm
