Finally an aesthetically pleasing hood scoop!

After posting in another thread regarding M7's newest Ultimate Grills, I decided to contact Peter to see if they are indeed available, as I wasn't sure. While I found-out that they should be ready by next week, I was surprised that he had completed what I think is a very cool hood/bonnet scoop!

Peter promptly emailed to me a couple of photos. I asked if it was ok to share on NAM, and he said to go ahead as he would do a Vendor Announcement very soon, ideally tomorrow (Fri).

From the conversation:

1. simple replacement/swap-out item
2. fiberglass, white gelcoat finish (requires painting)
3. openning is 1.5" taller
4. cost, if i recall correctly, $179

Peter should be contacted directly for the particulars, as I don't want to misquote anything...

I've seen a couple other such scoops, but none looked very appealing to me, or just didn't match the MINI well, imo.

After hearing from a couple different MINI vendors that one of the limiting factors in getting more out of our stock or aftermkt ICs is the amount of ambient air captured, and forced through it, having a larger opening seems like a wise move...

I look forward to getting one soon!

Do you have a picture from a greater distance back? Any dyno-proven differences?

Tony.

While I agree it looks nice from the front, I think it loses its appeal from the side. In my opinion, and we all know about opinions, anything that goes above the hoodline (bonnetline?)either vertically or horizontally is going about it wrong. I don't want to be too harsh because I think it would be great to make the scoop more functional but, I wouldn't put this on my car. I do think it is one of the best attempts I've seen so far though. Definitely a good effort.

No other pictures guys... I'm sure Peter might though. Sounds like I'm one of the few that thinks it is good looking, all things considered. In order to swallow more air, it seems that some compromises are needed though. I think that this is the most unobtrusive one yet... That's what's wonderful about opinions though!

I thought Mania's offerings (two) were cf and a chrome unit, which are stock size - not a larger openning, and around 400 bucks. They do sell a double-backed tape scoop (taller profile) that adheres to the stock unit, so it's not a replacement per se. I think the cost was sub 200...

More choices is a good thing...
