Colored bulbs for the wheel arches?

Well I went to install my clear wheel arch lenses and lo and behold the bulbs in there are not colored. Since its illegal to drive with clear lights on I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of bulb are above the wheel arches and where I can get red and amber versions of these bulbs...

Thought it was only illegal to have clear bulbs on the back of the vehicle, since those are on the side aren't they going to be legal?

This is another one of those "depends on your state laws" issues.

Some states require those lights to be amber and some say clear are ok.

Generally speaking the only lights States allow to be clear are your back up lights.

You could also use LED bulbs, that’s what I did.

Got them here:

http://autolumination.com/

Used the 194 LED bulbs-

Used the Oval Wide Angle Lenses and also replaced the front marker lights (by the turn signals) with the super white Clear Focused Lenses

Ok, I'm confused... I thought the lens on the archers were reflectors, correct? I had no idea that there was an actual bulb in here. So what is the purpose of the bulb? Unless the bulb is being shined on by an outside light source and helps direct light waves throughout the reflector...i'm lost

I'm sure that's ok. The indicators look hot pink on the 05's now.

Not really, especially if you use LED bulbs. Mine are bright red and amber.

None blink, both have lights in them. You can get the reflectors on ebay in clear or smoked. Search for mini cooper bumper lights. Here is a link as an example.

they are both. they have a reflector on the bottom and a light bulb in the top. they light up when the lights are on. they are a side marker light so other cars on the road know how long you are (parked or driving). none blink at any time. they are on or off. hope that helps.
