Yes. No.

According to B&M the stock shifter can't be used. The RSpeed shift ****, unless they've changed it since I bougth mine, attaches just like the stock one so it won't work.

Although the b&m shifter is threaded, it also accepts the stock ****. So if it fits the stock shifter it should fit the b&m.

The b&m DOES accept the stock ****, at least mine does (2003 MCS) It is threaded to allow std ***** to fit, and it also has the groove and shoulder to fit the stock ****.

One downside: With the stock ****, I find the b&m a tad too stiff (makes the shifter too short.) The **** included with the kit is at the perfect height but it's too light in weight and kinda cheesy.

Ha! I found a chrome skull shifter **** at one of the local auto parts store for $10. Perfect weight, perfect height. Beat the heck out of an $80 Momo. Works like a champ!

I stand corrected. I was going by what was said in a product description. Ironically it's one of the reasons I haven't bought a B&M short shifter. Didn't want to have to change *****. I like my ****. It's almost a part of me.

So the RSpeed shift ***** work with the stock shifter right? This is what it says on the RSpeed site:

The **** is measured perfectly for your
hand at 1 7/8" in diameter comes in 100%
chrome finish and plugs directly on to the shift
lever with the correct BMW insert.
"With the correct BMW insert" is my concern...

Just to let you guys know... The RSpeed site does not have a typo... it really only weighs .32 oz., being that it's made of aluminum. I think I'm going to go with the Whalen or UUC since they both hover around 18 oz.
