I dislike them. And I'm not even a Brit! I don't think of my car as a BMW. Whatever floats your boat, though... They are nicely executed.

I'm not doubting its made BMW, its just a different breed. Some people are proud of the MINIs BMW heritage, some people like it to be considered its own unique make.

Whatever the MINI is, I love it. A MINI is a MINI is a MINI

My pleasure, sweetie! At first I was a bit shocked by the badging, but I absolutely understand your point of view. The original classic Mini owners may give ya a hard time, though....they aren't pleased with the German connection!

I have to take mine to a MINI dealer and the nearest one to me is 600 miles. I have a BMW dealer only a half mile down the road.
Hate to pop your bubble, but the MINI is not a BMW.

I feel The best part about the badges are that the mini name is still there , thy just add the manufactures name and logo. Now everyone will know that if your looking for good looking car that well build and has ***** to boot , then call your nearest bmw dealer and get hooked up and to add about the old mini's, didn't some of there badges say ( morris mini or austin mini ) when the next get togather theworks

I like the new badges. And I agree, it IS a BMW MINI Cooper. Most people out there don't know a thing about the MINI and look dumbfounded if you say it's a MINI Cooper. They actually understand (not that I care) if you say it's a BMW MINI Cooper.

I bought my BMW MINI Cooper S at a BMW/MINI dealership. But regardless, we don't need to fight over the NAME, just be happy we can enjoy our rides to the max!

I also think there are some MINI only dealers out there. I thought I saw one in Houston recently, but I was busy watching the traffic to turn and look.

It's still made by Cooper in England(BMW=Bavarian Motor Works=Germany), but is owned by BMW and if I have a problem NO BMW dealer will see it I have to take it to a MINI dealer. So if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and water rolls off it's back like a duck it must be a goose.

Great Dialogue

Tis the land of the free and home of the various opinions!! I will die defending the right to voice them!
points to ponder
..some people feel it is a crime to mod a cooper or S
..some people feel it is a crime not to mod a cooper or S
..mini owners think that MINI's are not minis
..MINI owners think that mini's are not MINIs

I think the new badge is cool..I would like two....

I love the badges!
IMO, I think the car is a BMW with Mini Heritage.
Brit style with German engineering (can you you say z-link suspension) is not a bad mix. But when you think of it, the car is really a mutt, the engine is Daimler-Chrysler, the man responsible for the modern design is American.
But, anyone who has done any modding on the car can read all the parts that are stamped BMW and the stickers have warnings written in German.

badges

The badges look great, but to me putting BMW on a Mini, is like putting Chevy on a Saturn or Ford on Mercury. Yes with each they are part of one big one but they are still different none the less. But as I said the badges look awesome and fit nicely.

Gee, GM has a controlling interest in Subaru, maybe I should change my badging on the car to ones from GMC?

How about rebadging my uncle's Jaguar with Ford badges, Ford owns them?

I bought my car from a MINI dealer, it was in the same building as a BMW dealer, so by your logic it's a BMW... Hmmm, the dealership I bought my Subaru from is in the same building as a VW dealership, and they share the same service area, so then maybe my Subaru is really a VW?

But my first GMC Jimmy came from a dealership that had GM, Buick, Kia, Honda, and Toyota all in the same building and sharing the same general service area, so which is my car?

To be honest with you, I think those badges scream "I really wanted a BMW, but all I could afford is a MINI..."

Also early in the post some ask about Solo Mini Dealer,.. there's one near me, it actually where I got mine in Nothern NJ. Actually the two closest dealers to me are both solo mini Dealers.
On a side, yes a lot of people still don't know what the heck a Mini Cooper is. When I brought mine to get inpected, the guy at NJ DMV said what the hell is this... and Minis are so new to them that my Inpection window sticker says Make BMW, Model: Mini Cooper..... I tried to argue that especially since I have an MCS but oh well fighting the DMV is never worth it.

I'd say that plenty of MINI owners have spent as much on their MINIs as they would have on a Bimmer, Michael. theworks is definitely one of those individuals!

And worksie, at least Austin and Morris were English. Many of the Mini folk weren't pleased that a German company bought their beloved marque from the Rover Group, and don't want to recognize the new MINI as a true Mini, even though it is built in the original Mini factory.

For theworks I’ll say it once again.

MINI is not a BMW. You keep using BMW and MINI in the same breath, well stop it. If it bothers you everyone thinks your cabrio is a PT Cruiser I’m sorry, turning your MINI in to a BMW is just as wrong and you need to get that PT or get tougher skin.

Only a MINI dealer will service your car under warranty at this time not a BMW dealer. BMW dealers do not even carry MINI parts, but could order them more than likely with lots of work and headache.

BMW owns the MINI name and use it to get their large gas guzzling machines imported past the EPA because of gas restriction quotas, but that doesn’t make the MINI a BMW.

You find a BMW dealership, one that has no MINIs for sale other than used and you walk in asking about service and see how fast they laugh you out of the place. But before you get the bums rush from them off the lot show them your cute badge and then run. They more than likely will stone your car before you get off the lot because of thinking it’s a BMW.

We're all missing the point. It's not about what's on the outside, such as badges, its what's on the inside- a Chrysler.

Cool emblems, you did your thing.
