In North Carolina under "Make/Series" it says MIN. Too lazy to type the last "I", I guess.

I like the BMW/MINI badge. BMW did most of the design and engineering, and designed and installed all the highly automated plant equipment that makes the MINI, albeit in England. It's their show. I'm proud to have a car associated with BMW. Granted the classic Mini is also a really cool and awesome performance car too, albeit different, but in the same family. We're all one big family. Rejoice brothers and sisters!

Looks Great! IMO

How much are the badges "the works"? I might be interested.

I hate when I say it's a MINI and people say, what's that? Then I say, that's who makes it....and still nothing. Then I say MINI is owned by BMW. And finally they get it, sort of.

Our cars are not BMWs, they are MINIs.

To me, those badges are similar to putting the ///M badge on any car that isn't a real ///M series vehicle (such as a 318iS) or a Type R badge on a base model Civic. Or an R32 badge on a Golf/Jetta/Beetle. It's pretending to be something other than what it really is.

Many of the parts on my wife's New Beetle have the Audi four rings emblem; it doesn't make her car an Audi. Just curious, if BMW decides to sell MINI to Ford (like they did with Rover), are you going to switch to a blue oval with wings?

Funny, but everyone who's using the analogy of placing Ford, Chrysler, or whatever badges onto something more substantial like Lambo, Jaguar, etc. are attempting to downgrade the product. Mini with a BMW badge is not the same idea. You say Tomatoes, we say Tomaitoes

Yuk yuk Msfit is paid off and I have 7 A record in a two year span they've told me The last time I went to get a plate, they couldn't locate me in the system...WHAT They gave me a temp plate just in case I get pulled over. After some diggin (two weeks), they informed me that I had overloaded their computer system with my frequent plate orders

BTW, it doesn't cost a new plate each time you order a new plate. They pro-rate the time used so it's around $15+/- bucks for a new plate I'm planning on covering my garage wall with blue plates And yes, Msfitoy will be back on eventually...I'm having too much fun with my Mini..errr BMW...BMW/Mini...heeeelp...

While I agree that each to his/her own when deciding if you have a BMW or a MINI, putting a BMW badge on a MINI IS downgrading

Boy...a lot of people sure dislike BMWs Like I said...if your father is English and your mother is German, do you pretend your mother doesn't exist because you have an English name?
If people feel so strongly that BMW "corrupted" the Mini mark, they shouldn't be so in love with the Mini

I'd probably feel much differently about the entire thing if I knew any BMWCCA members that aren't MINI owners and don't look down on the MINI and those who drive it.

I haven't found to many BMWCCA chapters that are very welcoming of MINI owners. That's not saying there aren't any, there just aren't very many of them. Heck the Philly people did a meet with their local BMWCCA chapter. But most of the response I've seen from BMWCCA members has been less than welcoming...

I know...I know...but let's not be "snobs" like them That's their personal problem...we're much more open I thought.

What a delima...original Mini people don't believe that we have a genuine Mini and BMW people think we're unwanted orphans Now you know why I call mine "MSFITOY"

I like the way alot of BMW people are such snobs who think they are better than everyone else cuz they drive a BMW..... I had a 323 as a loaner when my MINI was in and I noticed one thing.... I passed about 15-20 other 3 series on ONE 50 mile trip home.....

Honestly, I wasnt impressed with the 3 series at all. Didnt feel luxurious in the slightest... felt like I was in my Focus but with leather. The car just felt.... boring. Guess thats why I drive a MINI... No boring Allowed!

Are there any other options available? Would be cool to have color coded "S" Badges, JCW, Works, or anything similar.

I think $23000 worth, is plenty of credit where credit is do. Plus the money I spent on the super cool MINI wrist watch, the child size convertible my son is getting, and all of the other accessories I've bought from my local dealer....

Hmmm - now that would be cool. MINI wings, the BMW propellor, and a big red "S" through the middle!

As far as BMW clubs go, I guess I'm fortunate to be near the Golden Gate Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America (GGCBMWCCA). I got into an email exchange with one of their guys who said:

I know there is a lot of controversy surrounding the MINI and if it is a real BMW. We feel that is a load of crap. Most of the pieces that go into the construction of a MINI have BMW part numbers. It was designed by BMW engineers, yadda yadda yadda. I don't know how it could not be considered a significant member of the BMW family. So we would like to encourage the MINI owners to join. Evidently some MINI owners don't feel welcome, and we want to fix that perception. We have a few MINIs autocross with us and they are quite welcomed by the entire group.
To be perfectly honest, I don't really care if people consider Tillie to be a BMW or not. (I'm perfectly happy just calling her a MINI.) But I am really, really grateful that these guys - GGC - welcome MINIs to their events. They put on a lot of events! Like the Car Control Clinic later this month and a Laguna Seca track day next month! So, yeah, Tillie - you're a BMW!!!
