Cravenspeed F56 Manual Shift ****

I've had my 2015 F56 less than 2 months, but right away I knew one of the changes I had to make was with the original shift ****. Even if the shift pattern had not worn off, I hated the feel of this ****. The **** itself is round, but the leather strip makes it feel square in your hand. It's just uncomfortable, and every time I got in the car I hated it more and more.

Opted for the Cravenspeed **** for $119 and I'm super pleased with it. Their service is very fast, and despite being across the country, I received mine less than a week after ordering. The packaging and component quality is all excellent. The round plastic **** is solid and feels great in your hand. It fits over a machined stainless core that is a piece of art. The core has substantial heft which makes a noticeable difference when shifting the car.

The instructions are posted on their site and are very clear, but I was still confused by a couple things. Fortunately, the Cravenspeed team responds quickly to email questions and they are great to work with. Really, the installation is quite simple, and took about 15 minutes. The part I feared - pulling the original **** off - is actually a LOT easier than I thought it would be. It really didn't take all that much effort at all to pull it off.

The trickiest part is attaching the top of the leather boot. The original **** has a fixed plastic adapter attached to it. There is a separate plastic ring that goes around the boot and clips onto the **** adapter, attaching the boot to the bottom of the ****. The Cravenspeed **** has no plastic adapter attached, but instead they suggest using the included rubber o-ring by putting it around the inside of the boot and over the bottom of the stainless steel core. It didn't seem to work for me. But the boot naturally meets the bottom of the stainless core without any attachment so I just left it like that, and it's impossible to tell that it's not attached.

This is an easy and inexpensive mod that is appreciated every time you drive the car. The weight of the shifter makes the shifting slightly easier, but it's the feel and look of the **** that makes all the difference.

Also note that the **** has a separate removable cover, so you can change the color or engraved graphic whenever you want. Replacement covers are $15 each and custom engravings are possible.
