Replace tail lights to Union Jack

Hey, I know there is a thread on this forum about the UJ light and hiw to replace it and coding but I am not sure of this since on the thread was a little confusing with uk/us version and non-s/s/jcw so: I recently bought a new 2019 Mini Cooper 2 door non-s signature packg and want to make the change to the UJ tail lights, I’m thinking buying from WayMotorWorks (Here are the UJ Lights). Is it better to buy the US than UK version? (I live in GA, don’t know if there is any regulations on that), Will I need coding and/or other parts? Or it will be plug and play?

Please let me know how can I approach this mod.

My current lights are attached:

Replace tail lights to Union Jack Tail Lights from WayMotorsWorks
US or UK Version?
Coding required?
Other parts?

Send them an email and not available for the next three weeks for the service.

Ands they didn’t provided a quote but that will be some bucks that I can save and is not that hard to do the deassembly and assembly IF is just plug and play.

Minnie has a great point, let Way do the install on the lights. Mine was an 19' JCW with Union Jack lights already but I wanted to switch to the UK ones cause I liked the amber and it was an nightmare. Went back a forth for a month then I finally returned them. Just make sure you get actual OEM ones.

I bought the OEM US version but coding is required. If you are unfamiliar with BMW/MINI coding I suggest you get it installed by someone who knows how since you can easily screw your car up.

If you didn't do this already .... UK/Euro lights have amber turn signal, which is what I installed on my 2018 with LED lights. US lights have red turn signal. If you follow directions and discussion in this post, that provides what has to be done for the install and programming (most use BimmerCode). There are other discussion threads, however, I found that one sufficient.

If GA requires periodic inspections, you can look on the GA DOT web site to confirm what's required for turn signals. I think you'll find that both amber and red are acceptable.

You can order the US lights from a mini dealer. For example, the BMW Mini Part Store has them at $190 each ($288 list).
Edit: That's for F55/F56 tail lamps ... notice you have an F54? In that case, go to realoem.com to find the part numbers. I'm not familiar with which F54 has UJ lights.

2016 F56 JCW Curious as I tried having the dealer install and after 3 days of playing with it they say they are unable to do it. I showed them a video on how to re-code and they are not allowed to do it.

I want to do it. I have a VGate BT 4.0 coming and Bimmercode app.

Is this all I need? I’m in the SF Bay Area and don’t know of anyone that has done it.

Thanks

Go to you tube and watch MINIVLOG's videos on the coding. Its straight forward and easy to do. And yes the adapter and bimmer code works.

As mentioned, tried getting the dealer to do the install and they ere not able to work. These were OEM retro kit and they wouldn't light up for brakes or turn signals. Any recommendations on Union Jack lights that will work on a 2016 Hatch JCW?

I've seen some on Amazon but not sure about them.

Thanks
