Factory Alarm

I just got a factory alarm kit from my dealer ($295) but noticed that there is no tilt module included. I have looked behind the left hand panel in the trunk and it seems as if there is something behind the wheel well flange (just below the white T handle that opens the gas flap). I cannot see if it is the module without taking it out. Also there is no spare wire loom that would attach to a module which makes me think that the module is fitted already. Does anyone know for sure if they fitted the tilt module at the factory for June 2004 on?

In my research on the factory alarm I believe that there used to be three parts, the tilt sensor, the siren, and the motion sensor. I beleive on the newer alarms the tilt sensor is integrated into the siren making on less part to install.

There is also the wiper stalk with the red light on the end. I got three parts: the motion sensor module, the siren and the wiper stalk. You could be right about the combinations siren/tilt sensor. However others have reported that the motion sensor was also factory installed??? There does appear to be something where the tilt sensor should go but it could be part of the emergency fuel flap release - as I said it's tough to see without taking it out which I didn't want to do.

they used to have a tilt sensor in the back, but now it is part of the siren in the front. so you have all the parts.

Hi 770 KOF,

Just got me '05 MCS as well; ordered the OEM alarm from Classic. Brian said the kit will work for a '05.

I have the same parts as you have in the kit.

Just installed last night. About an hour. The annoying part was unwinding the bloody tape to expose the connector for the siren. They must have fun at the factory taping up that baby.

Motor on!

alarming question

Well not really....how does the factory alarm arm and disarm? Just the factory lock unlock on the key? Does the siren chirp when arming/disarming? Thanks for any info.

Exactly as U describe, plus the rear, park, and side indicators flash once for armed, and twice for unarm. You're welcome. Jimbo

Heyduard (do I need to put a "Hey" in front of your forum name or would that be redundant )
Yes I agree the factory must take great delight in taping up that connector
Did your dealer charge you to activate it?

Hey 770 KOF!

Sorry, haven't made an appt yet to activate it. I'm going to try for this week, so I have no clue, which is about par!

I'll let you know what's the lowdown.

Hi All!

As Prestige MINI in NJ is on my way to my place of employment, I stopped there for the alarm activation.

They charged for an half hour of labor. Not too shabby! Considering I purchased my MINI elsewhere and bought the OEM alarm from Classic, I think I did very well.

Kudos to Prestige's SA and service dept for fitting me in their busy schedule. I would have gladly made an appt for later in the week.

Of course I was tempted by goodies in the parts dept and did buy a MINI baseball cap while waiting.

hey,
duard
