Hey BartMack, your Mini looks great. Did you install the Aero kit yourself or did the dealer do it? Are you going to put the factory decals on the rear bumper or leave it naked?

It was a part of my sales deal.. but I had lots of problems with the dealer trying to get it done right 5 weeks and 2 body shops later..

I really want black inserts for the rear depressions.
As far as I know the kit comes only with silver inserts makes no sense why. I did notice that the new MINI configurator shows black inserts, so I'm going to investigate that.

You can get the black inserts from Cooper Flags, one of the sponsors.

Looks really nice. But how exactly is Hyper Blue different from Indy Blue?

So BartMack, what was the problem with the aero kit? I just bought a pre-painted aero kit for my 05 MCS (which hasn't arrived yet).

Was it a fit problem or a finish problem?

Hyper Blue is a lighter shade of blue than Indi Blue. In pictures, they look almost the same, but you can tell the difference in person.

I plan to take a picture of my car next to a Hyper Blue car and post it, but I haven't done it yet.

I'd love to do that actually! I wish the US could spec it gone like the UK can. I'm skiddish of damaging the finish though, seen DIY info anywhere?

The aero kit problem was my dealer.

The first subcontractor body shop they hired assured me they had used authentic BMW/MINI paint but actually did not. I found out from the painter when I went by to view the kit. They photo-analyzed the existing paint from my car and tried to duplicate it. It was a very bad match, grainy gold-flecked and 2 shades too light of course, because thats how HB photographs. On a good day that's less-than-honest, on a bad day it's fraud.

After that, 2 weeks went by with me calling the sales manager almost every day trying to resolve it. They just wouldn't do anything, kept putting me off. They should have taken care of it immediately.

Then I called the general manager of the BMW/MINI dealership and he apologised and [told me] he made immediate arrangements at another body shop, and for me to drop the car off the next morning. I did, and called the body shop 2 days later to see how they were progressing, and they didn't know what I was talking about. Did not have the car, and had no arrangements for it.

Another call to the general manager who said that although they look like bumbling idiots, they really aren't. ok fine.

I called the body shop 3 days later and they have the car, but no parts.

11 days after I dropped the car off [and 5 weeks after it arrived] it's finally done, and thankfully the body shop is known for high quality work, so it turned out great.

It's going back in this Thursday for driving lights.

The dealer has offered me a $150 gift certificate to make up for it, but I tell you I would've gladly paid two or three times that for competant service in the first place

Forgot to mention, that first guy who lied to me? The dealer gave him my car to drive over to his shop without my knowledge or consent... after I'd signed the papers! He put the first 10 miles on it

It looks awesome on the Cooper too, I saw a few at the Dragon Run this year especially with the single wide stripe down the middle and it threw me at first because they looked so good I thought they were S's (but there was no scoop)

The booty wipe is easy. I did it in about 5 minutes. Just get some dental floss and stick it behind the badge and peel downwards. You might leve a bit of residue from the adhesive but a little car wash soap and a minute of scrubbing later and its done.
