Rolled Rear Fenders

I cant' find any info of anyone rolling their rear fenders to make more tire clearence. Has anyone tried this old school method on a Mini. I'm on the verge of borrowing a roller and could use some advise. I've already done all the triming possible to the plastic flair and need about about 3/4" to 1" more clearence.

Thank in advance

Update Rolled Rear Fenders

As an update on rolled rear fenders over the weekend I had a chance to try the roller. The roller arm is attached to rear rotor hub, and can be infinnally adjustable, from length, height, and angle of roller. As you apply pressure, and roll back and forth the fender does flex, almost enough to scare you that everything is ruined. But no damage so far, I've been able to pushout the backhalf about onehalf inch (1/2 ") and tapper the front half as though never moved. I still haven't reach my goal of ( 1" ) wider fenders.

You can see I'm still looking for help!!!!

Can one go the extent as to drill out the spot welds on the second-inter fender, therefore become separate of the outer body and then push more??
Then after all is set as to the width I want, Then reshape the second-inter fender and spot weld.

Thanks
RTS

I would definitely like to see pics. There is a show car, I think MINI Mania was involved with, that was widened by 1 inch at least. I'll try to find the pics to post.

This was at the "2004 Spring Thing" in Orlando. The owner lives in Miami, hes the guy that installed the sound system on my car, and we've become good friends. The mod list is extreme, down to a full custom turbo kit. Its hard to see the fenders, but it gives you an idea. I'll ask him to see how he did it.

2nd Update Rolled Rear Fenders

Sorry! on pictures to post as you all requested.

The end results are not really visable, the plastic flair seems to hide all the rolling I did. The further I got into the job I realized that there is actually five (5) thickness that one must actually roll/ cut: (1)-bracket for plastic flair (2)- cut 1/2" and roll main body panel (3)- roll inter-steel fender together with main body panel (4)-cut-trim plastic fender liner. (5)- and naturally one must trim the inside lip of the plastic flair.
I didn't go the route of drilling out the spot welds cause with all the rolling the plastic flairs just barely line up with the trim of the rear bumper,
so I quit!
End results is I only gained 1/2" of width / depth per side.

Would I do it again? probably not, I just raise the height.

BUT I STILL LIKE THE LOOKS !!!!!

Thank,
RTS
