Low profile shift ****

anyone know of any low profile shift *****? Something really low, I have a jcw **** now and it's way too tall. I want something no taller than the stock round ball thing, but hopefully not so wide and round more like the "type R style"

I could almost go without a shift **** at all something dropped on top of the shifter and secured would be all I really need

if I cant find anything I might just drill out regular weighted aluminum shifter and secure it with friction tape

As Twister said, this has always enticed me. I think they're a little smaller than the stock sphere.

The stock **** is already pretty short, not sure if you're going to find anything smaller than that that isn't spherical.

I use one like this in my other mini, I might just drill it out right to the top and slide the whole thing over the shifter

Hmm, that looks pretty big to me, just about as tall as the JCW handle.

wow WTH ?!?

I know exactly what I want, the same thing I have in my other mini but I cant install a short shift in the JCW so I have to find something else that'll work

I even posted a picture, if I drill that thing all the way to the top it'll be shorter than the "ball" oem shifter

I just figured you wanted something that fit your hand better, didn't realize it was just the overall length of the shifter that you wanted shorter. Pretty sure the JCW is the same manual transmission as the MCS so you have several short shift kit options available to you.

I cannot run a short shift kit, it's against SCCA street rules for D-street

I ordered another aluminum ****, I'm gonna put it under my drill press and drill it almost all the way out so it slips way way over the shifter shaft.

That kinda info might have been useful in the first post of this thread........... would it be safe to assume by the scca rules that you cannot trim the shifter down a tad as well?

i trimmed my shifter way down(not thinking about scca rules) then tig welded a fatty screw on to thread the gumball ****. craven speed makes a pretty sweet adj. shifter. you could bring it back to factory height on track days if you had to

So you shortened the actual shifter arm? I was thinking about doing this: cut out a section from the middle and then welding the top section back to preserve the attachment for the ****. Doable?
