I asked my MINI service tech if they would fit, and he said they should fit no problem.

I am considering doing the same thing, but I do like the way they are now, unprojected. It just looks cooler them being projected. Is it true that if they are projected, they aren't as bright?

When projected, the light is guided to concentrate only on the areas you want to illuminate...so it is actually brighter in the areas you really need the light.

traditional lamps illumiate in the general area with a more softer illumination
so the entire illumination seems diffused, but distance is diminished.

.....and fugly to boot.

The new lights are just for show. They will not give any better lighting. I have compared them to mine and saw absolutely no difference in the pattern.

Good.

I didn't want to be the first one to ask "For the love of God, WHY!?!?!" You could just buy some machine gun parts and put them in your existing headlight assemblies. J/K!

OK, off the soapbox now!

When the MINI cabrio demonstrator make its way to our town we were lusting.........er, I mean looking at the new headlights and asking the same question, "Can I get those?" The non-xenons are very cool, imo, but maybe not $620 each-cool.

(p.s...not talking here about the xenons which are the machine gun looking things....not a fan, personally.)
