It is a holder for cooper, the good thing is that it will not block the view of the lower grill.

I only saw once on web, but never find where to buy it.... anyone knows?

pcho,

Aloha and welcome to NAM. If you have the MC then this license plate holder you show in the pictures is indeed stock. If you remove it then there is a long narrow space for a europlate.

In the MCS the front bumper is different and there is a license plate add on holder that can be mounted higher to cover the front bumper upper grill or lower (using the top two screws to attach to the bumper) to not block the grill as in my case (stock holder mounted lower)

Unless they changed them, that is not the stock holder. The stock holder goes up and covers part of the lower chrome grill.

See....

Ohhhh....i understand, when you said it didnt block the lower grill, i thought you meant the lower mesh grill which isnt obstructed by the holder.

If it helps both of those cars are japanese, so maybe its a japanese aftermarket product? Or even an Japanese OEM difference (haha JDM for minis )

I just did a little more searching on the net...and i really think that that is the stock license plate holder for japan...I've looked at a gallery full of japanese mini coopers, and every single one has the same holder...its either a VERY popular upgrade, or its just the stock item.It would make sense that their stock holder would be different because i think their plates are a little different in shape from ours, but not by much.

Got to the following webpage, and click "MINI OWNERS" up at the top and look at all the coopers....you will see what i mean http://www.prestige-ag.jp/mini/index.html

Hope this helps...and if it is MINI OEM then i think you can have your dealer order you the japanese part if they are cool enough good luck with your search

Ya, i tried that and it sorta works. What i mean by sorta is that you could technically cut some parts off and it would fit, but it wouldnt be sitting flush with the bumper...it would either be in an indent or be tilted at a funny angle.

I really do think that it is the Japanese part that comes on all coopers ordered in japan...all we need is a part number and they could be ordered at your dealer
