First of all the backup lights are horrible, almost non existent.

Has anyone thought of adding an extra PIAA or hella to the rear like the older coopers had ?

 

You can kind of see here I replaced my back up light on a pre face lift R53 with an LED spotlight. Works much better, even though it is just an eBay special 60 degree flood or something.

If I was going to do it again, I would get a decent light. Probably a Rigid D2 in around 30 degree beam width. The cheapy throws light everywhere, a tighter beam and better optics would be better.

A friend adapted a set of R56 "rear fog" lights from eBay with stronger lamps and wired them into his reverse lights, and they worked great.
